The artist Jim Davis began producing comics about the orange and cynical cat Garfield in 1978 and Garfield very quickly became very popular. Many products were produced with this symbolism, including children's phones in the form of a lying cat, with eyes closing and opening.

It was these phones that began to be found in large numbers on the coast of French Brittany in the early 1980s and continued to be found over the next 30 years. Last year alone, about 200 different parts from Garfield's phones were collected from local beaches. At the same time, no one could figure out where these phones come from, and over the years this secret has acquired more and more mystical shades.

It was understood that somewhere in the Iroise Sea (one of the open seas of the Atlantic Ocean) or in the ocean one of the containers fell from a merchant ship and these phones are coming from it. But this container was never found, although the phones were collected in baskets every year.

There were so many telephones that soon pieces of orange plastic began to infuriate local residents. They increasingly began to declare about the polluted environment and began to send teams of volunteer cleaners to the beach.

And recently one of the local farmers recalled that he found Garfield's first phone on the beach immediately after a severe storm at sea. And when the search began in this place, the container was finally found. He found himself trapped in rocks in a hard-to-reach coastal cave, which could only be entered at low tide.

When people made their way into the wet and slippery rocky cave, they found a completely rusty and crumpled metal box, almost heaped with stones. It still contained merchandise, including Garfield's phones. As it turned out, the phones were washed out of the container by water during high tide.

It was not possible to pull the container out of the cave and the phones will be washed out of it until it is completely empty.

And these phones, by the way, are now considered a great retro rarity and collectors are ready to pay good money for them. True, if the phone is in good condition.
