The Milky Way is one of the greatest mysteries of our universe. And among them we have highlighted the main thing.

1. Sun temperature

This phenomenon cannot be precisely explained, there are only hypotheses. The thing is that the temperature on the surface of the Sun is about 5500 degrees Kelvin, and the outer atmosphere, in turn, heats up to millions of degrees.

The first explanation for this phenomenon is that such heating is caused by processes occurring on the surface of the Sun, and not in its interior (for example, nanoflares). The second explanation is that internal energy is somehow transferred to the outer layers of the atmosphere, while bypassing the surface of the star.

2. Star Factory

Recently, the remains of ancient galaxies were found in the Milky Way. After this finding, many questions arose, since there were very few stars in these galaxies compared to modern galaxies. Thomas Brown, of the Space Science Institute in Baltimore, believes that the most logical explanation for this phenomenon is that during the formation of stars immediately after the Big Bang, small galaxies were vulnerable to powerful streams of UV radiation. The stream of rays deprived the reserves of gas from which stars were formed.

3. Dwarf planets

You hardly know all the planets of the solar system. And not because you are not good at astronomy, but because a new planet was recently found on the outskirts of the solar system. It is dwarf, but interestingly, it is one of the distant objects of the Oort. It was from this cloud, according to the assumptions of astronomers, that the solar system was formed. This is the second dwarf planet from the Oort cloud. These discoveries suggest that there may also be other planets within this cloud that are comparable in size to Earth and Mars.

4. Future of the Earth

Scientists' forecast about the inevitability of a collision of two neighboring galaxies - Andromeda and the Milky Way - is widely discussed in the public. However, according to the calculations of many experts, this will happen no earlier than in 4 billion years. Today, the two galaxies are more than two million light years apart, which will take a very long time to travel. However, every day this distance is getting smaller and sooner or later the Milky Way and Andromeda will collide. Where it leads? Two galaxies will begin to merge into one, and this process will last for several billion years. As a result, the new galaxy will resemble an ellipse in shape, and its center will shift. This is one of the assumptions of scientists. At the same time, it is highly likely that the Solar System (and, therefore, the Earth) will be destroyed in the course of such transformations.
