The so-called virtual anthropologist - a certain Jason Hunter - has done painstaking work to study another NASA image.
The result of the find was a tiny figure, like a gnome, wandering among the Martian stones. And as soon as he found it in the huge image sent by the robot "Curiosity" "(Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity)?
The picture was taken by the so-called camera on a rod (Mastcam: Left) on October 29, 2014, when it was the 792nd day of the robot's stay on Mars. The gnome is in the lower left corner. If the figure is enlarged, then you can distinguish the head, legs, handles. She herself is no higher than 10 centimeters.
The original NASA image can be viewed here.
Of course, this find is inferior to the famous figurine of a Martian, whose photo has impressed millions of earthlings. Recall. In the period from November 6 to 9, 2007 - the Martian robot Spirit, then located in the Gusev crater, took a panoramic picture. Soon, this photo, posted on the official NASA website, found a detail that made it sensational. Namely, a female figurine was discovered - a Martian, as it was quite logical to be dubbed right there.
The discoverer of the figurine is considered to be one of the readers of the British newspaper The Daily Mail - a certain Marcela Bravo, who enlarged and examined the strange "detail". The result has caused delight, without exaggeration, all over the world. The figurine was exciting with its "human" shapes and proportions. She looked feminine. It seemed that the woman sat on a stone, stretching out her hand.
For some reason, NASA released the image with the Martian a few months later, after it received it. He entered the public domain in January 2008. And since then, people have been arguing: is it a man-made figurine, or is it a bizarre stone.

On the one hand, common sense suggests: there can be nothing man-made on Mars. Except, of course, the rubbish that arrived from Earth in the current era of the development of the solar system.
But on the other hand … Such a delicate detail as the "hand" of a Martian would hardly have formed naturally - as a result of, say, weathering.
The figure is about 30-50 centimeters high. Although, according to some estimates, it may be higher. And by common sense she is neither a living Martian nor her mummy. This is absolutely fantastic. But it may well be like a sculpture.
The gnome is unlikely to be a serious competitor to the Martian. But he is also very entertaining. It also looks like a statue - more precisely, a statuette that was placed on a sideboard. Or are the Martians so tiny?
