Harvard scientists believe that the excessive gamma radiation in the Milky Way is created by the decay of dark matter particles. This type of radiation occurs as a result of nuclear reactions. The rays are capable of destroying biological molecules, but the atmosphere prevents them from penetrating the Earth.
At the Fermi observatory, a burst of radiation was recorded in the center of the Galaxy. Scientists have suggested what could have happened from the decay of dark matter, which are called vimpa. Scientists failed to prove the hypothesis put forward, since the observatory cannot accurately determine gamma radiation from the Galaxy.
Experts managed to calculate the estimated location of the radiation source using statistical methods. Astrophysicists pointed out in scientific work that there is a component in the radiation, which was reflected in the model of dark matter annihilation.
In February, scientists put forward a completely different explanation for the appearance of the strongest radiation. The source could be millisecond pulsars, which are stars with huge rotation. Earth scientists have scant information about dark matter. It makes up about 27% of the weight of the universe.
