On August 15, 1977, Jerry Eiman detected a suspicious sound signal emanating from space.
On that day, the scientist was working at the Big Ear radio telescope in Ohio, and constant listening to space was carried out as part of a project to search for extraterrestrial life.
For the study, special characteristics of signals were compiled that could only be created artificially, and not by natural anomalies of the universe. The signal that Aiman caught perfectly matched these characteristics, it was a strong narrow-band radio signal sent from the constellation of Sagittarius. Having received a printout detailing the signal characteristics, Eiman was extremely surprised and wrote the English "Wow" on it.
Since then, scientists and researchers have tried many times to re-register the radio signal, hoping that it will someday be repeated. Unfortunately, this was the only time that we possibly received some kind of alien sign.
Scientists around the world, including the luminaries of Soviet science, have made a huge number of attempts to decipher the signal. It was speculated that this was a response to a series of radio messages sent to random corners of space as part of a project to search for extraterrestrial civilizations. Unfortunately, all attempts failed, and we never found out what our space neighbors wanted to convey to us.
But 40 years ago, mankind did not yet have truly developed sound processing technologies, so today many scientists are still trying to decipher the message. Perhaps they are unable to do this due to the fact that we simply do not understand the nature of the signal, perhaps the alien technologies are completely different? This version is suitable for those who believe that we are not alone in this vast and cold Universe. There are those who believe that the signal was created naturally due to certain fluctuations in matter or other cosmic events, although the probability of this is still low.
If we manage to decipher the cosmic message, where will this lead? What could the aliens send us? What were their intentions? As one proverb says: "Believe in the best, but prepare for the worst." This means that there is still the possibility of a hostile invasion for which we are not at all ready. Or maybe it was an alien test of our technology, and we are simply not yet developed enough to decipher the message. All these are questions to which mankind now has no answers and we are not yet ready to receive them.
