The US Edwards Air Force Base, known to all as Area 51, has overgrown with various theories and rumors over the decades. And all because the US authorities officially recognized its existence only in 2013. By this time, both Americans and residents of other countries have already managed to make a sufficient number of guesses about what is actually hidden behind a fenced-in area in southern Nevada.
In order to finally find out what really is on the territory of the base, Facebook users suggested going to its assault on September 20. About half a million volunteers intend to release the allegedly imprisoned aliens there.
Theory 1: studying alien technology
In 1989, a certain Robert Lazar was invited to American television, where he said that in 1988 he was hired to work in Zone 51. The man claimed that he was brought to the base in a car with tinted windows. According to Lazar, he was allegedly invited to study flying saucers and find out how they work.
Scientists were rather skeptical about his words, since the man did not provide any evidence to support them. However, this theory has its own supporters, who to this day believe Lazar.
Theory 2: interrogation of aliens and autopsy of alien beings

This theory arose after the stories of the same Bob Lazar. He claimed to have caught a glimpse of a small gray creature in a spacesuit standing between two men in white coats. Lazar's words were confirmed by a certain Victor, who claimed to have worked at the base and was a witness to the interrogation of the aliens. He even provided a video in which a man allegedly tried to communicate with the help of telepathy with an alien shot down by the US military.
And the alien autopsy theory was widespread after the 17-minute film was released in the mid-1990s. The footage shows people in white suits removing organs from a creature. Later, the creators of the tape admitted that they filmed it in the studio, but supposedly only to replace the original footage.
Theory 3: creating a hybrid of a human and an alien
There is a version that in "Area 51" people and aliens are working together to create a hybrid. Some believe that the military, together with aliens, are trying to create a new race that will look exactly like us, but have superpowers. Others believe that the base is engaged in the cultivation of spare organs that the aliens need.
Theory 4: secret government headquarters
A number of conspiracy theorists believe that "Area 51" is the base of a secret committee of scientists, heads of military departments and high-ranking officials who, since 1947, have been studying spaceships and aliens. Supporters of this theory believe that a secret committee is working on an agreement and the creation of a single world government, in which the planet will be ruled by people together with high-ranking aliens.
Theory 5: in "Area 51" was simulated landing on the moon
Some people still believe that there was no Apollo program. In fact, supporters of conspiracy theories argue, scientists realized that they could not survive in space, and in order not to disgrace themselves in front of the whole world, they came up with a cunning deception: they organized the launch of an empty rocket, and a few days later they removed an imitation of the landing on the moon in "Area 51" …
Theory 6: Developing Dangerous Climate Weapons
This theory emerged after the publication of a report by the National Science Foundation. According to him, in the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Cirrus project was developed in the United States, in which scientists tried to find a way to use rain as a weapon. Conspiracy theorists quickly linked this experiment to Area 51, but there is no reason to believe that it was carried out there.
Theory 7: building secret mission helicopters
According to this theory, "Area 51" is a base of helicopters performing secret missions. Conspiracy theorists believe that the machines belong to a secret government department that hides the evidence of aliens on Earth.
Theory 8: "Area 51" was invented by the Pentagon to hide the real secret research center
Some conspiracy theorists believe that the US military is deliberately creating the hype around "Area 51" in order to hide the real research centers located in more remote places from people. For example, British journalist and filmmaker Mark Pilkington believes that the intelligence community is promoting the idea of the existence of aliens and a possible UFO invasion in order to divert attention from their own dangerous experiments, for example, from the development of new spy planes.
