A group of researchers representing the scientific communities of Harvard Medical School and the Australian University of New South Wales claims that a drug has been created in the laboratory that has important properties for the human body. When consumed, the substance activates the regenerative processes in the cells of the body, forcing them to rejuvenate.
Using the example of mice, it was possible to establish that the drug brought the metabolism of sugar in the blood of diabetic rodents back to normal for a certain period of time. With long-term use of the developed agent together with water, processes in the animals' bodies occurred that stimulate DNA repair, as well as the renewal of existing tissue damage.
According to the authors of the study, it took scientists only a week to bring the cells of old mice into a form similar to that of the cells of their young relatives. It is known that NASA is showing great interest in this project, which intends to use the drug for long-term space travel in the future. Meanwhile, scientists note that while it is not worth making loud conclusions, because there are still many laboratory tests of this tool ahead, the key of which will be testing on humans.
