In the United States, Mayo Clinic staff announced clinical trials of senolytics, anti-aging pills. If the tests are successful, they may appear in pharmacies.
The drugs not only prevent age-related bone loss, but also deal with other signs of aging. The cells of the body are constantly renewed by division. Old cells lose this property and stop dividing - with age, these cells become more and more. In addition, their number can increase with various diseases, such as arthritis or dementia.
Senolytics have the ability to recognize these aging cells and destroy them. Researchers have developed a special algorithm to test potential senolytics so they can understand which drugs will actually have the desired effect.
Earlier, we reported that Dutch scientists conducted studies that confirmed that the maximum human life expectancy today without any doping is 115 years. To do this, scientists have collected data on 75 thousand Dutch people who have died over the past 30 years.
