American astronomer, specialist in the search for extraterrestrial civilizations Seth Shostak named the date of extinction of the species Homo sapiens. According to his calculations, after 100 years, modern man will cease to be the dominant species on Earth. He will be replaced by "children of aliens".
At the same time, according to the scientist, scientific and technological progress, namely, space travel, genetic engineering and artificial intelligence, will contribute to the disappearance of mankind.
"In the near future, medicine will step so far that scientists can treat all diseases and create babies whose immunity can resist all viruses," says Seth Shostak. - In addition, no later than 2100, humanity will populate the nearest planets in order to solve the problem of planet overpopulation. However, our descendants should start not from the Moon or Mars, but from artificial objects in near-earth orbit, in which it will become possible to move without spacesuits."
At the same time, the social climate on different planets or near-earth stations will be different, which will lead to speciation. Thus, the inhabitants of Mars will differ from the inhabitants of Jupiter or Saturn, and scientific and technological progress will accelerate the process of human change.
Shostak is also confident that by the end of the 21st century, scientists will create artificial intelligence that will control machines that perform all human work. And later, a special chip will be inserted into the brain of people, with the help of which it will be possible to change a person's behavior, instill in him a new culture - in fact, control him.
As a result, children of the 22nd century will be as different from modern people as a dog is different from a wolf. “All the changes I have mentioned are inevitable,” the scientist states. - And if a person of the 11th century could recognize a modern person, confused only by technology, then we can hardly see in a person of 3016 a representative of Homo sapiens.
