Chinese writer Du Hong, suffering from a fatal illness, decided to freeze her brain by placing it in liquid nitrogen.
The woman expressed hope that in 50 years, scientists will learn to "resurrect" people who have undergone cryopreservation. The procedure cost the woman's family $ 120,000, according to the GB Times.
The children of the writer had to sell her apartment in order to fulfill their mother's last wishes. Du Hong became the first person to undergo cryopreservation in China.
“Mom's brain was immersed in liquid nitrogen in Beijing and then taken to the United States for storage,” said the writer’s daughter, a genetic and cell engineering specialist Zhang Siao.
Cutting off the head from the body and storing it in liquid nitrogen is not considered illegal if the patient and his relatives have signed the relevant documents. A complex operation was carried out by the American Life Extension Fund "Alcor".
Shortly before her death, Du Hong confessed: she is also ready for the fact that experts will never learn to resurrect people. However, this did not discourage her from donating her body for this experiment.
