Back in 2010, a group of evangelical Christian researchers claimed to have found traces of the biblical ark on Mount Ararat in Turkey. Experts strongly doubted these allegations until 2017.

Professor Raul Esperanté of the Geoscience Research Institute in California announced that he has new evidence of the location of Noah's Ark.

The professor's institute is sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, so the opening, if it happens, will be a breakthrough for the organization. Therefore, the expedition, conceived by Raul Esperanté, will receive serious financial support.

The professor draws on the history of 2010, when a group of Chinese and Turkish researchers studied the top of Mount Ararat. They analyzed soil samples and found charcoal belonging to wood that was 4,800 years old - just the approximate time the ark sailed on the flooded land.

Esperanté is convinced that the data are "promising", but require more rigorous and verified scientific work in the area. For the sake of a great cause, the professor called for the participation of international investors, reports The Daily Mail.

Nicholas Purcell, professor of ancient history at the University of Oxford, calls for common sense: "If floods covered Eurasia, how did the complex societies of Egypt and Mesopotamia survive this disaster?"

Dr. Oktay Bailli of Istanbul University believes that the flood and Noah's ark are "not a myth, but a true incident mentioned in all the scriptures."

According to the Bible, Noah built the ark at the behest of God in order to save his family and all animals (each creature in pairs) from the punishment of God. The vessel had the following dimensions: 133.5 m long, 22.5 m wide and 13.35 m high. The ark finished its large-scale voyage on Mount Ararat. Since then, various expeditions have worked on its top more than once, attempting to find the legendary ship.

Another potential location for the ark is Tendurek, an area about 30 km south of Ararat.
