In early 2018, a story from a user with the nickname "catphistopheles" was posted on Reddit about a visit from an insect-like creature.
“That night I fell asleep with difficulty due to problems with my nose and our annoying cat. I fell asleep lying on my back and usually I do not sleep like that, for me it is very uncomfortable.
As soon as I fell asleep, something pulled me out of the dreamland and I woke up, and when I woke up I realized that there was someone else in my bedroom with my husband.
I immediately clarify that what I saw was not a dream, I always understand that if I see a dream, the colors there are always more saturated and even people are usually more beautiful than they really are. And I never dreamed of a place like my room.
It was quiet, my husband snoring as usual next to me, and at the other end of the bed there was a fan and his red indicator light was blinking. And then something dark blocked her. Something sat right on my belly! I was amazed by what I saw, but for some reason I didn't scream, we just looked at each other for a few seconds.
It was a creature with a heart-shaped face and massive eyebrows in the shape of the letter "M". Behind them was an elongated skull like those of those aliens from the last film about Indiana Jones, under the eyebrows there were deep, round eye sockets, in which dark eyes were visible. The eyes were large, but round, that is, not the way aliens usually paint.
Under the eyes, the face became narrower and ended with a small chin. I don’t remember the mouth, or it was very tiny, and below the large head was a skinny and very bony body. Overall, the creature seemed to weigh less than my 2 year old child.
While I was examining him, my husband turned in his sleep and the creature turned its head towards him. In profile, his face was completely flat, almost like ET from the Spielberg movie. Then it turned to me again. At that moment, with great difficulty, as if in slow motion, I raised my hand and touched his cheek.

His skin was thin to the touch and seemed mobile. It reminded me of the thin, delicate skin of anole lizards. It was cool and bones were distinctly felt under it, that is, there was obviously no fat layer there.
Suddenly, this creature began to make soft ticking sounds and tilted its head forward. The ticking became deeper, stronger, and then slowed down, as if time had slowed too. Then I felt a strong deafening noise in my ears and my hands fell limply like boiled pasta, and my eyes rolled back.
I remember how I managed to think “oh my God, no,” and with the remnants of strength turned my head towards my husband. And as soon as I did it, everything seemed to turn off. I woke up and sat up in bed. The creature was not in the room, but at the same moment my child screamed loudly in the next room and his scream did not resemble the usual whine due to a dirty diaper or hunger.
I jumped up and rushed to him, everything was fine with him, but I did not let go of him until he calmed down and fell asleep. All this happened two years ago and all this time I tried not to think about it and not to remember what happened. But then I googled and read about aliens and found out that they can make ticking sounds when they try to communicate.
This is all too heavy for my comfort level, but I painted this creature. Maybe someone else has met with a similar one."

In the comments to this story, site users expressed the version that maybe it was all a vision during sleep paralysis or borderline state. However, many found this message to be a real account of supernatural experiences.
Responding to user comments, "catphistopheles" wrote that although the creature appears to look like typical "gray" aliens in her drawing, in fact it seemed to her more like a mantis insect. His eyes were especially disposed to this. But his skin was still like the skin of a lizard.
