Reading other people's thoughts, which some lovers of science and not so fiction dream about, is almost commonplace. At least that's what scientists from the United States of America say, who, they claim, have succeeded in inventing a mind-reading computer. In fact, we are talking about a hardware-software complex for scanning and interpreting brain activity.
Which, with some stretch, can really be called a mind-reading computer. But, of course, not a little stretch.
The invention, as noted by its authors, is aimed at facilitating the process of communication with people who, for some reason, have lost the ability to communicate normally. For example, with patients who have had a severe stroke.
The mind reader is still only a prototype. Until the final device, scientists say, is still far away. Now the mind reading computer is being tested on volunteers who are not averse to strangers looking into their minds. However, what was spied there still needs to be interpreted, because the basic set of graphs and numbers issued by the device can not even be made out by every specialist.
