Two huge neutron stars that collided and exploded one hundred and thirty million light-years from Earth did not cause the apocalypse only because of the considerable distance separating us, according to representatives of the National Aerospace Agency of the United States of America.
“Only distance saved us. If these neutron stars were not so far away, then their explosion could easily burn the biosphere of our planet. In general, space is a very dangerous place, say staff at the University of Louisiana, commenting on the findings of NASA representatives.
We are talking about the explosion of two neutron luminaries, registered in the star cluster NGC 4993. Currently, the explosion is evidenced only by electromagnetic disturbances recorded in the galaxy NGC 4993, but in general, we are talking about an incredibly destructive process.
“The gravitational and electromagnetic waves generated by the explosion were so powerful that they could easily destroy humanity and life on Earth in general, if their source was a little closer. We were very lucky this time. But will such luck last forever?”, The researchers conclude.
