There are many mysteries in the world, over which the brightest heads of mankind are still struggling. However, people have not yet been given an unequivocal answer to some things. One such dilemma is the famous Big Bang theory. Having learned about this theory, a natural question arises: what happened before the Big Bang? There are different opinions on this matter. We will share some of them with you.

There was nothing?

The Big Bang theory says that the universe appeared from an infinitesimal point and infinitesimal density and is constantly expanding in all directions. But what came before this expansion?

According to one of the most popular theories, nothing existed before the Big Bang. One of the main popularizers of this theory was the late Stephen Hawking, who explained it as follows. According to a scientist who adheres to Euclid's approach to quantum gravity, the universe has no boundaries. And its beginning can be compared to the South Pole, "south" of which there is nothing. And since nothing exists behind it, then there was nothing before the Big Bang.

According to other scientists, the universe could not have emerged from the void, so there is a logical explanation for the Big Bang. In their opinion, our Universe has always existed, but at one point it began to rapidly expand and grow, giving rise to new universes, which can be called the results of such Big Bangs. And our Universe is just one of the many that appeared due to the expansion of the Mega Universe.

There is another theory that speaks of the early existence of other universes that preceded the appearance of ours. It is assumed that there were at least two of them, and the Big Bang occurred as a result of their collision, which gave rise to a new universe.

Secondly, in his opinion, the Universe could not appear out of nothing, therefore, before it there was something that can be called another Universe that collapsed over time, but due to the Big Leap it turned back to those sizes that we can watch today.

It is worth considering that the theory of British scientists does not contradict Einstein's theory of relativity, who was one of the first to develop the question of the origin of the universe. They drew attention to the fact that we are inside the universe, therefore, we have no way to determine its exact size.

Taking this idea as a basis, scientists reproduced a computer model of the so-called dimensionless universe, trying to understand what the point from which the Big Bang appeared. As it turned out, time and space continue to exist behind this point, but they are mirrored. That is, before the emergence of the Universe, time went the other way, and space was located differently. And as a result of the Big Bang, our Universe has already appeared with the laws of physics that are known to us.

The "sleeping" universe

Another theory presents us with a model of a "sleeping" universe. According to some scientists, the universe was a slowly evolving space that was in a certain phase of sleep. This type of Universe has a stable state, but if it is blocked by an even more stable one, a new formation will appear in its place.

Existing in this form, the former Universe could be the progenitor of the one in which we live. Its stable state ended with a sharp expansion, called the Big Bang, which led to a new, more durable existence. But if you follow this theory, then the history of our Universe can end in the same way, and with it our life may end. But this is just an assumption.
