In a report entitled “Will contacts with extraterrestrial civilizations be beneficial or harmful to humanity? Various Scenarios”American scientists analyze all possible options and consequences for which earthlings should be prepared in case of future encounters with brothers in mind from other planets.
The authors of the report describe all kinds of scenarios - from the most optimistic, bringing people new breakthrough technologies and membership in the "Galactic Club", to apocalyptic ones that threaten humanity with complete destruction as a result of an insidious attack by aliens from space, the spread of deadly extraterrestrial diseases or the conduct of global experiments by aliens that will make part of the galaxy is uninhabited.
Scientists consider the growing emissions of greenhouse gases to be the most real threat to human existence. Aliens can track negative changes in the earth's atmosphere at a distance, consider us a civilization out of control, and take extreme measures to eliminate the threat posed by humanity to our planet and other civilizations, the authors of the report note.
They believe that “all of these scenarios should prompt us to limit growth and reduce the impact on the ecosystem. Scientists consider it especially important to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But even if humanity never comes into contact with extraterrestrial civilizations, the scenarios described in the report will help humanity choose a path of development that will avoid collapse and guarantee it a long life, American scientists are convinced.
This information appeared in The Guardian. But by the evening, NASA officials announced that they were not involved in the report on aliens that could exterminate earthlings.
As reported, American scientists Seth Baum, Jacob Hak-Misrab and Sean Domagal-Goldman published an overview of various scenarios of contact between earthlings and alien civilization in Acta Astronautica in November 2010. One of them suggested that aliens might be alarmed by the exponential growth of our civilization. Two study authors represented the Meteorology and Geography Department of Pennsylvania State University, and the third, Domagal-Goldman, indicated NASA's planetary division as a place of work.
This gave rise to the British newspaper The Guardian to publish an article with the headline "Aliens can destroy people to protect other civilizations: they can regard the growing emissions of greenhouse gases as a signal that we are an ever-growing threat, warns the NASA report."
“The Guardian is wrong about the 'alien' report. This is not a NASA study,”the US space agency said in a statement.
