Ufologists from all over the world are preparing to celebrate this year's anniversary - 70 years of the "Roswell incident", which provoked the worldwide fascination with UFOs.

In the summer of 1947, the military from the American Roswell air base reported the discovery of the wreckage of an unknown aircraft, but soon denied this information. What happened then in Roswell is still unknown, despite declassified information from the FBI and CIA. The only thing that is known for certain is that since then Roswell has flourished thanks to the tourism business, which emerged when the town became famous as the crash site of a flying saucer.

On July 8, 1947, local newspapers and radio stations published an official US Air Force report. The military reported that they have a flying disc discovered at a ranch in New Mexico in the Roswell area:

Roswell Air Force Base, Roswell, New Mexico.

The morning of July 8, 1947

Numerous rumors of a flying disc turned into reality yesterday when the reconnaissance service of the 509th Mixed Air Regiment of the 8th Air Force, based at Roswell Air Force Base, managed to get hold of the disc thanks to the cooperation of a local farmer and the Chavis County Sheriff's Office.

The flying disc touched down last week at a ranch near Roswell. Without a telephone connection, the farmer kept the disk until he could get in touch with the sheriff, who informed Major Jesse Marcel of the intelligence service of the 509th mixed air regiment.

Promotional video:

All necessary measures were immediately taken, and the disk was taken out of the ranch. After being examined at the Roswell base, he was taken by Major Marcel to the superior headquarters."

A few hours later, the commander of the 8th Air Force, Brigadier General Roger Ramy, spoke on the radio with a rebuttal:

“The wreck is currently in my office, and as far as I can tell, there is nothing special here. The gizmo, a star-shaped aluminum foil screen that reflects radar signals, can only fly depending on the wind speed."

Then the military organized a press conference, at which they continued to defend the version according to which fragments of a balloon-probe used in the secret Mogul program were found in Roswell.

The strange wreck was discovered by cowboy William "Mac" Brazel. He worked at the Fosreth Ranch. One evening he heard an explosion, but there was no telephone on the farm. Several days passed before Brazel reported the incident to Sheriff George Wilcox. For a week people talked about seeing strange disks in the sky, and it is likely that Mac found parts of one of them. He picked up pieces, cords and bars from an unknown lightweight and durable material at the crash site. The local sheriff delivered all of this to the officers of the Air Force base. The military immediately reacted and cordoned off the area.

The second version of the military, widely covered in the press, temporarily suspended the spread of rumors. True, according to another version, it was not a probe that fell on the ranch, but a secret unmanned reconnaissance aircraft. And it seemed natural that the military could not speak openly about him.

Yet they were aliens

In 1978, nuclear physicist Stanton Friedman interviewed former Major Jess Marcel, who in 1947 was the chief of intelligence at Roswell Air Force Base. It was his story that made this case the most famous in ufology. Marcel said that the story with the radiosonde was invented as a cover. Marcel saw the wreckage and remains and held them in his hands, moreover, it was he who delivered the discovered fragments to the Fort Worth base in Texas.

“These were objects of unearthly origin,” the former military man told Friedman. They were light and flexible, like paper, sheets of metal, other metal fragments looked like cloth. They were heavy-duty, did not burn and were covered with symbols similar to hieroglyphs.

After the interview, one more question remained unanswered: where are those who piloted this flying object? Charles Berlitz, the author of books on UFOs and lost civilizations, was the first to try to answer this question. In 1980, his book The Roswell Incident was published. Berlitz and his co-authors spoke with many witnesses and relatives of witnesses. One of them, archaeologist Barney Barnett, was with several colleagues near the crash site: before the military could force them to move away from the site of the fall of the object, they saw how the bodies of "aliens" were carried away. The existence of these bodies was confirmed by dozens of other eyewitnesses, among whom were the military, who reported where the remains were delivered - to the Edwards base.

However, there was no direct evidence of their existence. If alien beings did indeed arrive on Earth, there must have been photographs and videos taken by the military somewhere. British musician and video producer Ray Santilli received one document in 1990: it was an alien autopsy. The black and white video was shown in London and 30 other countries.

On the video, one could see some fragments of the object with many inscriptions in the form of hieroglyphs and strange control panels.

The military called the information Santilli had received as fake. However, it was then confirmed that something that really looked like a body was brought from Roswell in 1947. However, it was not about the aliens, but about the dummies used to test the radiosonde. All reports concerning this incident were immediately refuted, and the autopsy film was no exception.

On April 4, 2006, in a TV interview, Santilli himself stated that he had forged the film, but in a rather strange way. He talked about receiving the tape, looked at it, but spoiled it through negligence. He decided to reshoot the tape with several friends based on what he remembered himself and what could be recovered from the surviving fragments of the tape. For this they used a dummy. However, this semi-refutation did not convince the ufologists. They are all convinced that the autopsy was performed by experienced doctors.

Note that on the official website of the US CIA for several years in the open access lay a serious document, but for some reason no one in the central media is interested in a document - a review report prepared by the government historian of the special services Gerald Haynes and entitled "The Role of the CIA in UFO Studies, 1947-1990" … The report detailed the measures taken by intelligence to prevent the public from learning about unusual flying objects in the US sky. However, later this document disappeared from the site.

Version: it was not a UFO that fell in Roswell, but an aircraft of the Third Reich

Meanwhile, the German documentary filmmakers have sorted out the Roswell incident in their own way. in 2014, they announced that an investigation had found evidence that a Nazi-designed aircraft crashed near Roswell on July 8, 1947.

Their documentary "UFOs and the Third Reich" said that during the Second World War, in the strictest confidence, the development of a futuristic aircraft, called Die Glocke (in English. Bell), was carried out. He is said to have been the brainchild of SS Lieutenant General Hans Kammler.

German aircraft engineer Georg Klein claimed to have seen the secret development with his own eyes, since he was present during the first test flight of the experimental model. “I don’t consider myself crazy, eccentric or obsessed with fantasies. This is what I saw with my own eyes - a Nazi UFO,”said Klein.

The documentary claimed that the aircraft of the Third Reich was the predecessor to stealth fighters. Dozens of experts in the field of rocketry worked on its creation, many of whom were exported to the United States after the end of the war.

The Polish military historian Igor Witkowski wrote that Hitler was very interested in this project, so the best scientists and engineers were attracted to work on the creation of the bell-shaped apparatus.

The Bell aircraft was allegedly developed in Prague, and in 1943 the United States of America was able to acquire its technology. Engineer Joseph Andreas Epp, who allegedly worked on the project, claims that 15 models of this aircraft were created. One of them allegedly crashed during tests near Roswell.
