In 2011, astronomers at the SETI Research Center from the Department of Extraterrestrial Intelligence at the University of California, recorded in the giant tail of a rushing unusual comet three luminous objects of absolutely regular shape, the origin of which defied the known scientific recognition. Scientists have sounded the alarm. Are artificially created objects approaching the Earth? Perhaps this huge armada of space stations is approaching our planet for the purpose of colonization? Is the war with extraterrestrial civilizations not just a fantasy of science fiction writers, but really possible? Will humanity be able to protect itself from cosmic threats?
Thoughts about protection from possible military aggression from Space have arisen for a long time. Since the middle of the last century, various searches have begun for a solution to the problem, and to this day, various scientific projects are being developed in this direction.
In 1974, Soviet designers and specialists from the USSR Ministry of Defense jointly developed the Energiya-Buran orbital spaceplane, designed to create a transport vehicle for the components of the planned militarized lunar base. The official government decree on the approval of the ISS - Buran was published in 1976. First of all, it was planned to launch a laser gun into earth orbit with the help of Buran. However, a pilot unmanned launch of the ship in 1988 was the only one, and all developments in this direction were curtailed due to lack of capacity and the high cost of the project.
In addition to bases on the moon, it was planned to create colonies on Mars. However, since the 80s of the twentieth century, too many accidents have occurred with the launched Mars probes. In total, earthlings made 20 attempts to launch a spaceship in the direction of the Red Planet, but only three launches were successful:
1. In 1976, two Viking lander of the NASA project successfully landed on the surface of Mars. The spacecraft orbiter and the lander marked the beginning of the era of exploration of the Red Planet. As a continuation of this Martian program, 20 years later, NASA additionally launched and launched into Mars orbit the Global Surveyor spacecraft, which operated for almost 10 years.
2. Under the NASA Mars Science Laboratory program, the Curiosity third-generation rover, which is an autonomous chemical laboratory, and the Spirit and Opportunity rovers, were delivered to Mars in 2004 and successfully operated to detect any signs of the Red Planet's past oceanic activity.
3. In early February 2018, the American company SpaceX launched for the first time in the world a super-heavy rocket Falcon Heavy ("Heavy Falcon") to Mars, with Elon Musk's electric car on board.
In addition, to date, world scientists have not yet invented ways to protect astronauts who are ready to fly to Mars from high-energy cosmic radiation rays, which decay into a "shower" become deadly. Therefore, it is still very early to talk about the colonization of the Red Planet and the construction of protective military bases on it against threats from the Great Space.
