A resident of the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, 17-year-old Junrey Balawing, whose height is only 55 centimeters, will soon receive the official title of the smallest man in the world, writes the British newspaper Sun

In a few months, on June 12, Baluing will turn 18, and he can officially be considered the smallest representative of humanity among adults.

"We will consider the application when Junri Baluing turns 18 years old, in other words, when candidates for this title can officially apply," the newspaper quoted a representative of the Guinness Book of Records as saying.

At the moment, the record is held by Nepalese Khagendra Thapa Magar, who turned 18 in October last year. His height is 66 centimeters.

Junri Baluing was born in a village in North Zamboanga province to a large family in 1993, which has been documented. From the first year of life, the child was sick a lot, and his growth stopped at the stage of development of a one-year-old baby. The doctor, who noticed a slowdown in the child's growth, advised the parents to give Junri vitamins, but ordinary villagers could not afford to buy them.

Despite his small stature, Junri is active and helps his parents around the house. He learned to write and paint.

According to family photographs obtained by the publication, the other children in the Baluing family - two sisters who are 13 and 6 years old and an 11-year-old brother - appear to be quite healthy children with normal height. But "baby" Junri is not discouraged about his height.

"If I am the smallest man in the world, it will be very cool," - quotes the publication of the words of Junri Baluing.
