11-year-old teenager Arya Permana from Indonesia used to weigh over 190 kg and was called the fattest child in the world.
He ate five times a day and ate large amounts of food, and his weight increased rapidly every year, until doctors warned his parents that the boy might soon die.
The child underwent stomach surgery, the so-called "stomach sleeve", in which a significant part of the stomach is removed and the person can eat only small portions. Arya Permana became the youngest patient in the world to undergo such an operation.
After that, he began to rapidly lose weight and lost 31 kg in a month. Doctors hope that over the next 12 months he will lose at least another 100 kg.
The boy's 45-year-old father spoke in a recently released documentary about his son's illness.
The boy's mother is sure that all this is her fault.

When Arya was born, he was a normal child until about five years old, after which he quickly began to gain excess weight. In just four years, he gained so many extra pounds that passers-by on the street began to pay attention to him. He was photographed and written about him in the local media, and soon in the major press, as "the fattest child in the world."
When his school photo, surrounded by ordinary children, got into the media, he attracted the attention of the country's doctors. They examined the boy and said that the child at a young age may already have a heart attack due to excess weight. Specialists took tests from him, thinking that it was a hormonal disorder. However, no anomalies were found.
Shortly before the operation, due to his excess weight, Arya was almost unable to walk and was mostly lying on the floor or in a bath with water.
