In Armenia, there is a prehistoric monument made up of hundreds of massive vertical stones with holes in the upper part. The place is known as Karahunj.

Until recently, this place near the city of Sisian was associated by local residents with a spiritual place of power.

Recent studies have measured hundreds of stones using astronomical methodology as well as other scientific methods. A complex topographic map and coordinates for each of the heights were developed.

Karahunj's research led to the monument being believed to have three main functions.

The first is that the structure was the Temple of the Sun. This is the idea of the main God in old Armenia. Secondly, the monument could have been a huge and developed observatory. Third, it could be a university.

Recent discoveries have uncovered an observatory that existed over 7,500 years ago. This observatory will be considered the oldest observatory known in the history of mankind.

These results are just the beginning, as many researchers are already moving forward to learn more about the secrets of Karahunj.
