Many Americans have accused the government of hiding classified files of UFO sightings. Moreover, the UFO research program was so classified that even then-President of the United States Bill Clinton did not know about it. At least this is how Assistant Attorney General Webster Hubell describes the situation in his memoirs.

When Hubbell started asking questions of other agencies, he found himself blocked at every turn. However, after enough pressure, CIA Director James Woolsey began issuing reports on the CIA's involvement in UFO investigations, including the Air Force's UFO Sighting Research Projects (Project SAUCER and Project SIGN).
The aim of the SAUCER and SIGN projects was to "collect, collate, evaluate and disseminate all information pertaining to such sightings within the government, on the premise that UFOs may be real and have national security concerns."
More than just confirmation that UFOs are a constant harassment to the US government, published CIA reports have confirmed that the agency has a wealth of knowledge and years of experience in UFO research that was originally hidden from Clinton.
Hubbell's memoir Friends in High Places recounts many of the intrigues and power games in the Clinton administration, but his description of the secrecy of UFO programs has generated the most resonant public interest.
