This story happened to my husband Victor in the early 1970s, when he was in the eighth grade and lived with his parents in a small town near Ryazan. One summer, he agreed with friends to meet in a pine forest, which approached close to the town.
He came to the appointed place, there were no friends. I waited for them for about an hour and out of boredom broke the branches of the bushes growing nearby. Without waiting for friends, I returned home. He enters the apartment, and there is a commotion. The mother cries out in tears:
- Where have you been, we are looking for you! I'm going crazy!
The father says that the police have been put on their feet, and adds:
- Where have you been these three days?
Victor didn't understand anything. He explained that he left home about two hours ago, did not disappear anywhere, and his parents confused something. And they still claimed that he was absent for three days.
Victor remembered the time he spent in the forest minute by minute and did not understand anything. How could he be lost? I decided to return to the place where I waited for friends and broke branches. I thought he would show these branches to his parents, somehow calm them down and prove that he had not disappeared anywhere.
I went to the forest again, found a place where I was waiting for friends. Broken branches were lying on the grass, but … dry! As if they were broken a few days ago! He did not understand anything and tried to forget this incident as soon as possible.

And some time after this incident, he suddenly had a great desire to study biology, chemistry, astronomy and other subjects. Of course, they were studied at school, but Victor wanted to know more than the school curriculum provided.
What happened next? Victor bought many books on chemistry, biology, philosophy, astronomy. He easily learned the school curriculum and received additional knowledge on his own. After leaving school, I wanted to go to college, but because of my mother's illness, these dreams were not destined to come true. He graduated from a local vocational school and became a driver, but did not give up self-education.
He only had to read the text once, and he memorized it almost literally. He could talk about any plant on our planet: where and how it grows, what flowers, fruits and seeds it gives, how it is used for medicinal purposes. And his knowledge of the animal kingdom was enormous. In addition, he was versed in astronomy, could talk a lot and in detail about the constellations. He was like a walking encyclopedia.
In addition, everyone who knew Victor was struck by his amazing intuition, bordering on clairvoyance. Many locals considered him a sorcerer, especially fishermen. Fishing among local men is the most common hobby, but only my husband never returned from it without an enviable catch.
The same applied to mushroom picking. He himself explained this by the fact that he knows how to negotiate with the spirits of water and forest.
He never boasted of his knowledge and did not use any of his talents for personal gain. Sometimes it seemed to me that he was some kind of "observer" from another world - he was so unusual a person.
And one day he suddenly said:
- I will die this year.
Although at that time nothing foreshadowed a tragedy, his prediction came true.
I'm sure that this strange disappearance for three days opened up amazing abilities in him. Perhaps he has been in some kind of parallel universe?
