In Buryatia, vandals broke the upper part of the Buddhist religious building Suburgan Badmasambave and stole a statue of Guru Rinpoche
The structure is located on the southeastern slope of the sacred mountain Chelsan and is nicknamed by the people as Suburgan Dandar Lama. Guru Rinpoche, Buddhists believe, became famous for being a magician and sorcerer of unheard of power. It was largely thanks to him that the dharma teaching was born in Tibet.
The act of vandalism could have been committed to steal the figurine, which, apparently, the thieves considered gold, and thought that precious jewelry was hidden inside it. “According to another version, the local so-called Buddhists, who wanted to take possession of the object of worship at any cost, became interested in the statuette, and according to the third, the attackers simply wanted to harm,” the press service of the Ivolginsky Datsan (residence of the Supreme Lama of Russia) told Interfax.
However, the clergy warn that any action directed against the Buddha and his objects will in no way harm the Buddha himself, but will cause great suffering to the one who does it. “According to experience, those who have ever harmed the teachings incur tremendous suffering and 'buy' themselves a ticket for a charter flight to the most terrible hell in samsara (the cycle of rebirth) - avichi,” the press service noted. Buddhists also believe that the intruders incurred the wrath of the Sabdaks - the guardians of the area and various groups of invisible beings who will condemn their entire family to poverty, dementia, lack of will and disease.
