The death of the hermit at the Dyatlov Pass raised a new wave of rumors about the anomalous nature of this place

The pass in the Northern Urals between Mount Kholatchakhl and an unnamed height of 905 became world famous after the tragedy that happened in February 1959. A group of nine tourists, headed by Igor Dyatlov, a fifth-year student of the radio engineering faculty of the Ural Polytechnic Institute, died under unclear circumstances. The bodies were found only three months later. The autopsy results established that the cause of death of the Dyatlovites was exposure to low temperatures. At the same time, numerous abrasions and injuries caused by a blunt weapon were found on the bodies of some of the victims.

As a result, the criminal case on the investigation into the death of the Dyatlov group was closed with the wording: "It should be considered that the cause of their death was a spontaneous force, which people were not able to overcome."

However, the version of the investigation was repeatedly criticized. So, according to some experts, only the most general information remained in the case materials, and some hypotheses, including conspiracy theories, were not tested at all. The latter include, for example, weapons testing or death at the hands of the military, who thus allegedly eliminated unnecessary witnesses.

In the wake of the tragedy, several books were written, documentaries and feature films were shot. Among them - the Hollywood tape "The Secret of the Dyatlov Pass", which received controversial reviews, in which everything ultimately boils down to some experiments, monsters and zombies.

Mount Holatchakhl translated from Mansi means "Mountain of the Dead". According to legend, in time immemorial, nine Mansi were killed on this hill. Since then, this place has been considered cursed.

In early 2016, an incident occurred in the Northern Urals that once again drew attention to the mystery of the Dyatlov Pass. On January 8, not far from Mount Otorten, tourists found the corpse of a man. As it turned out, the deceased was a resident of the Chelyabinsk region, while no injuries were found on the body, but signs of hypothermia were revealed. The victim of the Dyatlov Pass was the hermit Oleg Borodin, who lived in the area for a long time. The man himself in a video on one of the social networks said that he had a family.

Previously, Borodin was a businessman and received good money. But later he fell into an occult sect, became a hermit and hardly saw his relatives. He went on a journey and wandered for almost two and a half years. The last point on the map for him was the Dyatlov Pass.

According to Mikhail Serdyuk, State Duma deputy from the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, part of the responsibility for what happened in early 2016 lies with the Federal Agency for Tourism of the Russian Federation.

“Rosturizm would be better off, instead of buying houses in the Seychelles, it would buy a house on the Dyatlov Pass. A completely unprepared person ended up there, like many other people who simply do not have basic skills. And such a tragedy happened, the deputy told a Rosbalt correspondent, noting that after such incidents, one should not close such tourist places for visits. “In this case, it would be necessary to close the entire country. We need at least a minimum registration, we need instructors who can train tourists,”the deputy stressed.

Yuri Kuntsevich, president of the public fund "In memory of the Dyatlov group", partly agrees with his opinion. According to him, trained tourists pass this route quite safely - just a few days ago a group of such extreme lovers returned from the mountains.

“The severity of the weather there is due to strong winds. And in this case, minus 30 turns into all minus 50. Our tourists returned three days ago and did not experience any complications or difficulties. The fact that a person froze to death has nothing to do with tourism - he is a lonely lover of taiga life,”the Rosbalt interlocutor emphasized.

For the past several decades, Kuntsevich, together with a group of experts, has been investigating the causes of the tragedy that happened at the pass in 1959. According to activists of the fund, there are many inconsistencies in the official version, some information is hidden. Experts examined the films from the cameras of the Dyatlov group, systematized data from open sources, including documentaries and books, and eventually came to the conclusion that the tragedy at the pass occurred, most likely, due to man-made reasons.

“We collect any information, and from the entire volume of information that has been glued together over half a century, such scales have been formed. On one side there are technogenic reasons, on the other - various occult assumptions and fantastic conclusions of people. This is Bigfoot and aliens. Although we see that there are bears, the deer graze in herds there,”said Kuntsevich.

"Rosbalt" became aware of one of the theories, at least not related to conspiracy and monsters. It deals with the so-called plasmoids, which are the closest relatives of ball lightning. Such phenomena are formed mainly over tectonic faults and pose a serious danger to humans. Such a version can be supported by evidence in the form of photographs of the KGB, which depict two objects similar to plasmoids. It is with this kind of phenomena that the military allegedly encountered and at the same time they could be confused with UFOs.

A thousand-page book about the reasons for the deaths of Ural tourists will be published, presumably in early February. Meanwhile, one of the investigations into the tragedy has already been published. Petersburg scientist and master of sports in tourism Yevgeny Buyanov claims that such sad consequences were caused by the mistakes of the Dyatlov group itself, for example, setting up tents on a 20-degree slope, which is avalanche-prone.

“From 40 years of hiking experience, it’s clear to me that only an avalanche could have caused injuries. The wind and cold became the reason for the death of Dyatlov's group from hypothermia - on the night of the tragedy, the weather conditions worsened sharply, Buyanov is sure.

Earlier, he sent a request to the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region in order to get acquainted with the criminal case on the death of a group of students. Initially, the supervisory authority refused him, but later the position changed, and in 2009 access to the documents was opened. According to Buyanov, there was nothing secret in the case, and there were no conclusions about the criminal nature of the incident, although "the investigators were looking for such traces."

“Speculations on this topic continue and, I think, even if all the materials of the criminal case were open, they would still be there. But now we can say for sure - the secret of the Dyatlov Pass has been revealed. This is an avalanche that came down at night, plus an arctic cyclone. Evidence of avalanches was actually found, but then the search engines did not have enough experience to identify them, moreover, many tracks were trampled. As for the solar activity of those years, it seriously affected the accident rate in mountaineering,”the expert told the Rosbalt correspondent.

Buyanov categorically refutes the version of plasmoids, calling it "chatter". Those flashes in the sky, which could be mistaken for such a phenomenon, he explains by rocket launches from Baikonur.

However, the "secret of the Dyatlov pass", it seems, will excite the minds of the inhabitants for a long time, and incidents like the death of a hermit in January will only increase the wave of rumors and speculation. Hollywood has already announced that they will shoot a new film about the tragedy of 1959.
