Previously, there was a ban on the movement of vehicles on the territory of the Ivdel reserve, where the pass is located

The authorities of the Sverdlovsk region allowed tourists to travel to the Dyatlov pass in ATVs and snowmobiles. Previously, there was a ban on the movement of vehicles on the territory of the Ivdel reserve, where the pass is located, according to the information policy department of the regional governor.

“The regional authorities have given permission for tourists to move on mechanized vehicles - ATVs and snowmobiles - to the Dyatlov pass, located on the territory of the Ivdel nature reserve. The corresponding changes were made to the government decree on the specially protected natural area of regional significance “Landscape reserve“Ivdelskiy”. Until now, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Sverdlovsk Region has informed tourists applying for travel to the pass about the ban on vehicles traveling through the territory of the reserve and about administrative responsibility for this offense, the statement says.

It also notes that the flow of tourists from Russia and from abroad to the reserve has grown tenfold, as a result of which cases of violation of its protection regime have become more frequent. “Therefore, the regional authorities decided to allow the movement of mechanized vehicles along the only route“To the Dyatlov Pass”, which runs within the boundaries of existing roads and trails and does not require felling of forest plantations. In the future, it is planned to arrange and develop this route,”the department says.

The Dyatlov Pass has been attracting tourists and researchers from all over the world for many years, who risk their lives trying to solve the mystery of the "Dyatlovites" or test their strength. In February 2016, a native of the Perm Territory was found dead at the pass, who was heading alone to a Buddhist monastery. A month earlier, the body of a 47-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk region, a native of Kazakhstan, who, according to some sources, had lived alone for a long time near the Dyatlov Pass, was found there.

During the summer period of last year, rescuers had to search for tourists lost at the pass four times and carry out rescue operations in order to evacuate those who could not complete the trip on their own.

About the Dyatlov pass

Promotional video:

The Dyatlov Pass is the name of the place of death of the tour group in February 1959 in the Northern Urals in the vicinity of Mount Otorten (translated from the Mansi language - "mountain of the dead"). The group consisted of skiers from the tourist club of the Ural Polytechnic Institute from Sverdlovsk - five students, three engineers and a camp site instructor. The group leader was Igor Dyatlov.

When the tourists did not get in touch and all the deadlines for their return had passed, a search was organized. The bodies of the dead were found in various places far from the tent. According to official forensic evidence, most of the tourists froze to death. However, some were found to have serious injuries that caused death.

Various versions of the incident were worked out: the collapse of snow on the tent, the attack of fugitive prisoners, death at the hands of the indigenous inhabitants of the Mansi, a quarrel between tourists, an avalanche, the explosion of a rocket flying over the pass, and others.
