A double star in the constellation Cygnus, the star KIC 8462852, whose brightness periodically drops by 15%, haunts astronomers who still cannot solve the mystery of the amazing fluctuations of this celestial object. In 2013, for example, it became clear that the blinking of a star occurs in a complex pattern, which further entrenched the opinion that the star is somehow connected with the activity of extraterrestrial intelligence.

KIC 8462852 was discovered by an astronomer named Tabota Boyagian, which is why scientists informally call it "Tabby's Star." The unique space object is notable for the fact that it can change its luminosity for short periods of time in the range of 15%. Modern science, as numerous experts note, is not able to explain such fluctuations, which provides a large amount of food for fantasies for supporters of theories about aliens living in the Tabby star system and somehow subduing their star.

The strange star is 1480 light-years distant from us and was recorded using the Kepler orbiting telescope. Some experts, however, believe that the KIC 8462852 phenomenon is based on an incorrect comparison of images and in fact is an ordinary speculation on people's weakness for news about aliens.
