On the eve of 2017, the Irshava Regional Museum of History and Local Lore (Transcarpathian region) received an unusual find as a gift, the origin of which is now being discussed on social networks and regional media. Oil is added to the fire by the fact that the find was found in the vicinity of the Bilkiv settlement (VIII-VII centuries BC) two years ago (in 2015).

In shape, it is a smooth polished stone like two drops of water similar to an egg. But is it an egg or a stone? While there are no answers, an amazing find was put under glass in the Irshava Museum of Local Lore in the premises of the Irshava Regional House of Children's Art.

Details about the find were announced on his Facebook page by Andrey Svitlinets on December 30, 2016:

- The Irshava Regional Historical Museum received an unusual New Year's gift from the teacher of the village of Bilki - Magdalena Mikhailovna Semak. According to her, this stone egg was accidentally found by children in the vicinity of the Bilkiv settlement and brought to her. At first glance, it looks like nothing ordinary - some kind of egg-shaped smoothly polished stone. But at the place of the find there was once a powerful settlement, which scientists date back to the VIII-VII centuries. BC, that is, the "early Iron Age". And in the settlement, archaeologists discovered a burial mound of the Kushtanovitskaya culture, dating back to the 6th-4th centuries. BC. With a high probability we can assume that the thing found belongs to that ancient time …

PS A similar find was discovered in September 2002 by the head of the department of mineral resources of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administration, candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences Mikhail Iliichuk near the Verkhovinsky village of Krasnoilye (the newspaper Ukraine Moloda wrote about the strange find then).
