All the inhabitants of Iria were sincerely happy with the happiness of Perun and Diva-Dodola. They had fun and frolicked, feasted, danced, danced in circles. Velez alone was twisting. He looked with passion and longing at the laughing Perynya. Envy settled in his heart to Perun. And after the wedding, Veles went down to Earth, but went for a walk in sorrow through the forests and mountains.

In the spring, when the world came to life from a winter sleep, Perynia descended into the open world to walk in the meadows, to admire the flowers of the earth. As Veles saw her, his blood boiled. The dark navya part of it overpowered the right one, and in a separate heart overpowered the Belobog Black Snake. Veles's mind was darkened. Forgot who he was and where he came from. I have forgotten everything that was before, and for what purpose he was manifested in the worlds. Nothing but passion remained in his soul. Veles hit the ground, and turned into a lily of the valley at the feet of Peryn.

Perynya picked that flower, brought it to her face and inhaled the scent. But instead of the fragrance of lily of the valley, I smelled a cattle stench, like from a wild beast. Perynya screamed, realizing that it was Veles, not a lily of the valley, and fell on the grass unconscious. And Veles took advantage of Peryn's helplessness, and even pounced on her until she came to her senses.

So, the wife of Perun, a thunderbolt, from the great Veles gave birth to an unbridled son Yaril - the patron saint of spring fertility, a sunny, fiery, ardent god of awakening nature. Blond, blue-eyed, amorous, reckless and indomitable.

When Perun saw that there was only laughter and sin in Yarila's eyes, he immediately guessed everything. "So it's the horns of Veles sticking out!": - Perun rumbled in anger, and began to throw lightning. It was so dispersed that in a rage he began to throw an incinerating fire at Veles. Veles rushed about on the ground here and there, dodging Perun's anger, and where he ran, there all the heavenly fire turned into a hot barren desert.

Perun did not spare his wife either. I decided that since she had instructed him with the cow's son, then let her herself then become a cow. And he turned her into a small earthly insect - a ladybug. Since then, when people find such an insect, they throw it into the sky, and say: -

Ladybug, Death Speaker!

Fly away to the sky

With the souls of the slain

Bring us some bread

On the gravestones.

White and black

Into the meat of a prisoner."

Velez Perun said that he is no longer his brother, that now he has no time, but there is timelessness. There is no more glory, there is dishonor. It can be seen so woven by Mokosh and tied by Dolya and Nedolya. Veles was forever excommunicated from the immortals, and did not know the entrance to Iriy.

All the inhabitants of Iriy agreed to drive Veles away, but asked Perun to take pity on his wife. She's innocent. Perun listened to them, looked into his heart, and saw that there was more love in him than resentment. Forgave Perynya, and allowed her to return home.

And Veles, finding himself in the Ripean mountains, instantly grew old. He was a curly fellow, he became a gray-haired, bearded old man. He went through the forests and through the swamps leaning on a staff. I met an old toothless wolf in the thicket, and he asked for Veles as an assistant to show the way.

That wolf led Veles to the swamp, where there is a hut on chicken legs. In that hut there was a black boulder-stone and a fiery mortar. Veles piled on a boulder-stone, and opened the entrance to the Navier kingdom. He went down into the ground, and saw that on the bank of the underground river there was a maiden - a beauty. Naked, as it is, only tightened in iron chain mail. Veles approached her, brought his face closer to the girl's face, and inhaled air through his nose. The girl also drew the spirit of Veles into herself with her nose, and burst out laughing. It was one of Viy's daughters - Yaga.

Then Yaga says:

- Mara's girlfriend Morena didn’t lie to me that Veles himself would covet my territory. Hey! Brothers Gorynya, Dubynya, Usynya, punish this impudent fellow!

- Your brothers will now serve me, - answered Yaga Vievna Veles.

Then Yaga hissed at the snake one, and he attacked the stranger himself. For three days and three nights, the battle did not end. Already on the last trick, Yaga went, turning into a snake. But the lord of all birds, beasts and nagas, grabbed Yaga by the slippery body below his head and began to choke him. Yaga Vievna prayed then: “So it was bequeathed by the Rod, and woven by Makosh, we cannot change what is destined to be. I gave my father a vow that only the one who can defeat me in battle will become my husband. Take me mighty Veles. I will be your faithful wife. You will never regret it”!

And Veles, even when sniffing with Yaga, already knew how the battle would end. And he says:

- I still don't go to Iriy. Perynu cannot be seen as her horns. Let's play a wedding! I will be the son-in-law of the mighty Viy. I will be the ruler of the world of the dead and the world of the living. Makosh prepared me to gain double wisdom. And then! There is a silver lining.

And Veles became with Yaga husband and wife. Here, in peace and silence, Veles gained great wisdom, and resigned himself to the fact that he did not start the wheel of Svarog, it was not for him to stop it. Only Rod knows everything in advance. Veles understood that only those who find themselves in darkness can know the value of light, and only those who have lost can find out what meant to him what he lost. Without sorrow there is no joy, and without separation there will be no meeting. He who has wealth will never know the joy of his wealth, unless he once finds himself destitute.

Veles began to teach this wisdom to mortals. He told how to go from darkness to light, from Krivda to Truth, through death to life. From beginning to end and from end to beginning. Most people are very stupid, so Velez taught the chosen ones, those who can read the secret signs of the immortals that appear in the explicit world. These special ones became Veles' assistants in the human world. They began to wear sheepskin coats with fur outside so that others could see that they were Magi - disciples of Veles.

Magi are given to predict the future, heal people and talk with the dead. They also know the healing power of herbs, sacred songs and conspiracies. By the cry of the prophetic Crow, by the rustle of the grass, by the wolf's footsteps, they guess whether what has been started will end with good or dashing.

So Perun's wish for disgrace for Veles did not come true. On the contrary, Veles became closer to mortals, and his glory shone. Veles were especially glorified by the cattle breeders, who kept a bear's paw in the barn as a talisman against misfortunes, called it “the cattle god”. Veles was still revered by merchants, because cattle breeding and farming brought wealth to people.

The boyan singers revered Veles, because the underworld and the white Alatyr-stone endowed the mighty Veles with omniscience and the mysterious gift of versification. Veles was honored by the plowmen who threw winter grains into the arable land in the fall. These grains had to go through death, through Veles, a gloomy kingdom, so that later, in the spring, they would be reborn into sprouts, find a new life, and feed people. That is why for a long time it was customary to leave the uncompressed last sheaf of bread on the compressed field for the lord of the underground "Veles on the beard".

So Veles became the closest and dearest for people, and his glory almost overshadowed his righteous Irian relatives.
