What is Antarctica in your view: a huge lifeless ice desert? Yes, huge, but icy, but about lifeless … According to some polar explorers, there is life in Antarctica and these are not birds and penguins, but creatures, meeting with which ends in death for humans.
Tragic expedition
In December 1959, six polar explorers from the 4th Soviet Transantarctic Expedition went to the South Magnetic Pole. Today this point is located in the Antarctic Sea of D'Urville. Not only does the South Magnetic Pole not coincide geographically with the geographic one, it is also constantly in motion (did you know?). In 1959, the South Magnetic Pole was located on the mainland and lay much further south.
An expedition of 6 people went to the Pole. Only two returned. Officially, severe frosts, a severe storm, and a breakdown in equipment were declared the cause of the death of the rest of the expedition. And only the narrowest circle of initiates knew the truth.
Death ball
The expedition reached the pole without any problems. Minus 30 by Antarctic standards is considered almost a thaw, there was no wind, the equipment did not break. Having reached the designated point, we set up camp. The leader ordered to rest, because everyone was tired as hell. People scattered to the tents. But they did not have a chance to rest, very soon everyone was raised by the alarming cry of Yuri Korshunov. Grabbing the carbines, the polar explorers jumped out.

Not far from the tents, a huge glowing ball was jumping, gradually approaching the camp. At 100 meters, he stopped jumping and rolled, transforming into a "sausage" on the move. The expedition photographer Alexander Gorodetsky grabbed the camera and went to meet him. The sausage stopped, a hole opened at its end. "Back!", - shouted the head of the group Skobelev, but Alexander continued to walk, flicking the bolt on the move.
When Gorodetsky approached the "sausage", it stretched out in a ribbon and wrapped around him, a halo flashed around Gorodetsky, iridescent in different colors. The man screamed terribly and fell. The tape began to shrink again. The polar explorers started shooting. The "sausage" was swollen and seemed to have burst, sparks and lightning splashed in all directions. All rushed to their comrade. Gorodetsky was dead. His face and palms were charred, and the camera was melted.
The truth that no one should have known
A second meeting took place two days later. Three balls appeared as if they had condensed out of thin air. Two more were killed - Kustov and Borisov. Skobelev was alive, but lost his memory and mind, looked at everyone with wild eyes, saliva flowed from his mouth.
The surviving members of the expedition loaded the bodies of their comrades onto an all-terrain vehicle and set off on their way back. On the way Skobelev died. According to the doctors' conclusion, Gorodetsky, Kustov and Borisov died from severe electric shock, Skobelev from heart failure.
In 1962, an American expedition of 17 people went to the South Magnetic Pole. They returned without loss, but everyone was immediately sent to the mainland, where the Americans were treated for a long time in psycho-neurological clinics. Officially, the Americans declared that the expedition took place without any extraordinary events. Nobody was supposed to know the truth.
How the secret became clear
Only 30 years later, one of the surviving members of that tragic campaign, Yuri Korshunov, broke his vow of silence. The reason for this was the third meeting with the "aborigines of Antarctica." In 1991, the French met with them.
The meeting took place again in the area of the South Magnetic Pole. The French tragedy was exactly the same as the Soviet one. The expedition operator Jacques Valence, who saw the glowing ball, rushed to shoot the mysterious object. The ball transformed into a cylinder, then into a "snake", coiled around Valence. When he fell, the "snake" took the shape of a ball and flew into the sky. The blackened body of the operator and the molten camera remained in the snow.
The French did not make a secret out of the tragedy and told about it in the press. The secret ceased to be a secret, and Korshunov spoke up.
Live plasma
Of course, scientists are trying to find an explanation for this phenomenon. RAS Academician Vlail Kaznacheev expressed the idea that in addition to the usual protein form of life, there can also exist an energy life in the form of a plasma-type substance. Scientists call them plasmoids, although it would be more accurate to call them plasmosaurs. According to the American physicist Roy Christopher, the energetic form of life originated on Earth much earlier than the protein one and its weapon is directed electrical discharges.
The most comfortable living conditions for plasmosaurs are in the area of magnetic poles. It remains to solve a small question: is this life reasonable?
