Experts from the World Health Organization have concluded that even an insignificant increase in the mass of pollutants in the air reduces a person's life expectancy by 9-11 years.
Scientists from Denmark conducted research and found that over the past 30-40 years, people who lived in ecologically unfavorable regions died ten years earlier than their peers who lived in other parts of the Earth.
In total, over 100,000 people were included in the "statistics".
Specialists from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) also named the main pollutants. Among them, they noted microparticles of ash, sulfur dioxide and microdroplets of aerosols that enter the air due to emissions from transport and industrial enterprises.
It is noteworthy that when a person changes the environment in which he lives to a cleaner one, his health condition improves significantly, experts say.
As emphasized by University employee Mikael Andersen, the study took into account data provided by the pan-European Bureau of Statistics Eurostat.
