Astronomers have recorded mysterious repetitive radio signals that supposedly came to Earth from a galaxy 1.5 billion light-years away.

This may be another indirect proof of the existence of a developed alien civilization in deep space, but scientists are still in no hurry to draw conclusions.

Such fast radio bursts (FRBs) appear regularly from time to time, however, signals of this type to Earth have come only once so far, and this was in 2015.

New mysterious signals are reported by the journal Nature. The discovery was made by a group of Canadian astronomers, who in the summer of 2018 caught 13 bursts of a new type using the Chime radio telescope.

When they started checking these signals, they found out that one of them, numbered FRB 180814, was repeated and had been caught earlier in 2015. And it was in Arecibo, in Puerto Rico. The signal came from the constellation Giraffe, from a point that is more than a billion light-years distant from us.

Most experts are sure that such signals are emitted by some powerful space objects, but no one yet knows which ones.

Fast radio bursts are single radio pulses with a duration of several milliseconds of an unknown nature, recorded by radio telescopes. For the first time such a signal was accidentally caught by astronomers at the University of West Virginia in 2007 and was called "Lorimer's burst".

According to experts, signals of this type may come from black holes or super-dense neutron stars, but there are also more daring theories among the versions.

For example, avid professor Evid Loeb of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in the United States believes that these signals could definitely be evidence of the existence of incredibly advanced alien technology.

Most of the previously detected fast radio bursts are around 1400 megahertz (MHz), but the new signals are well below 800 MHz.
