A group of researchers from Duke University of Science and King's College London has established strong social ties between the adolescent stratum of modern society and the underworld that coexists in an urbanized urban environment. According to prominent scientists, the influence of a negative environment on the younger generation is directly related to a fairly large number of psychotic symptoms observed in urban children.

Psychologists and psychotherapists at Duke University of Science and King's College London jointly concluded that the observed psychotic symptoms in urban children and adolescents include pronounced auditory as well as visual hallucinations, paranoid thoughts, excessive suspicion, including some other mental disorders of minors.

According to specialized experts, the mental health of urban children is also affected by the level of crime in the region of residence, the potential probability of immediate intervention of neighbors in case of problems in the house or yard, the well-being or unhappiness of the area, expressed, for example, in graffiti or manifestations of vandalism. More than 7% of urban children by the age of 12 have already encountered at least one of these symptoms, which is more than 2 times higher than the same indicator for their peers who live in smaller cities or rural areas.
