Tectonic processes taking place at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland will sooner or later lead to a powerful earthquake. Which, given the geographical features of the region, threatens to simply wipe the city of St. Petersburg from the face of our planet. The corresponding forecast was announced on the air of Radio Baltika by Viktor Bokov, employee of the International Center for Geophysical Forecasting.

An earthquake-provoking factor that cannot be underestimated is floods. “In the old days, water spread in a thin layer over the earth's surface surrounding St. Petersburg, and now, due to artificial barriers in the form of dams, it accumulates in places of increased concentration of geophysical forces, as a result of which, the processes that regulate them, to an even greater extent are becoming aggravated,”says the scientist.

If the next burst of tectonic activity at the bottom of the Gulf of Finland coincides with a high water level, then the water resting on the dam will create the very stress on the earth's crust that initiates a powerful earthquake.

According to Viktor Bokov's forecasts, this may happen in 2023 or 2024. The scientist's forecasts can be ignored, but do not forget that his previous forecasts of earthquakes in Turkey, Japan, Morocco and Algeria came true.
