Welsh environmentalists are currently looking for, presumably, a group of poachers who, in some incomprehensible way, managed to cut down about two hundred huge beeches.

The investigation began last week when government officials unexpectedly stumbled upon the crime scene. Where there was a grove of thirty-meter century-old trees, only stumps and scattered upper branches remained - the trunks of the beeches were taken away somewhere.

A beech grove near Caerfilly, South Wales, is more than two centuries old. Needless to say, the illegal felling of these ancient majestic trees has greatly alarmed the local authorities. Beeches were home to numerous rare animals, birds and insects, and therefore cutting them down was strictly prohibited. If the culprits are found, they will certainly face fines and imprisonment. But for a start, conservationists should find the criminals, and this, as it turned out, is not an easy task.

Ancient beeches stolen by aliens?

Environmental protection representatives note that illegal logging of such a prominent forest should have certainly attracted the attention of local residents and law enforcement officers, but for some unknown reason this did not happen. One gets the impression that aliens flew here and in a matter of minutes cut down all the beeches with a laser, after which they loaded them into their flying saucer and went home.

By the way, some British ufologists really believe that trees could have been destroyed not by man, but by some other force. Not necessarily aliens, but this is the theory that researchers of UFOs and all the paranormal are most inclined towards. Or was there a secret teleportation test in Wales? What if a huge monster fell down a beech grove, and government officials had to file the stumps to pass this outrage as the work of poachers? However, sawing stumps is also a troublesome, long and noisy business, which would certainly attract the attention of people.

Local “green” official Jim Hepburn recently added fuel to the conspiracy thesis, telling reporters the following: “We do not know who or what did it. Where have our trees gone? Why didn't anyone notice their felling? That is, no one saw or even heard anything, although knocking down two hundred century-old beeches is a whole problem that requires time, the use of technology and the involvement of dozens of woodcutters. This is the first time we come across such a riddle. The minister of the people also expressed regret that the country had lost such a beautiful and unique piece of nature, which cannot be restored in our lifetime.
