This incredible event took place in August 1971 in the small village of Belmez de la Morelada, which is located near the Spanish city of Cordoba. On a warm, fine morning, Senora Maria Gomez Pereira came into the kitchen and to her amazement saw a mysterious portrait on the floor tiles.

The news of the strange image immediately spread throughout the settlement. People rushed in droves to Senora Gomez's house. Numerous onlookers created a lot of inconveniences for the woman, so she decided to immediately get rid of the portrait on the floor. But attempts to wash off the image with detergents were unsuccessful. And then, finding no other way out, she asked her son to replace the tile with the portrait with a new one.

The problem seemed to be solved. But after a short time, new and this time even sharper images began to appear on the floor. And there were already several of them. And the locals, who continued to visit the house of Maria Pereira, found among these faces the face of a man of 40–45 years old, who died many years ago. He was buried in the old cemetery, next to which was the house of Señora Pereira. It is clear that after such a statement from fellow villagers, the owner of the "gallery" of strange portraits did not feel very comfortable …

Meanwhile, experts on the paranormal became interested in the Belmez phenomenon. In the process of studying the portraits, they discovered a number of curious facts. So, it turned out that the substance with which the portraits are painted has no analogues among the known paints and pigments. The conclusion suggested itself: the portraits "painted" some supernatural forces …

After three months, the tiles with the images were carefully chipped off the floor and placed under the glass. Then a layer of soil about two meters thick was removed, under which human bones were found. Thus, the assumption of the existence of a connection between the portraits and the cemetery was confirmed. Moreover, a little later, in old photographs, they found the faces of those villagers who had died long ago and were buried in this cemetery.

In addition to their sudden appearance, the portraits on the floor in Señora Pereira's house surprised with another curious feature: they were distinguished by their variety and durability. At the same time, some images, having stayed for a short time, disappeared, and others appeared to replace them, but there were also those among the "portraits" that remained unchanged for a long time. All in all, during the existence of this strange phenomenon, several dozen images appeared on the floor, many of which were photographed …

But not only in Belmez, the case of the appearance of portraits and other images from nowhere was noted.

In 1897, the life of John Wopsen, abbot of Landaff Cathedral in the capital of the Principality of Wales, Cardiff, was cut short. And after only half a month after the body of Vopsen was delivered to the ground, on the western wall of the temple, not far from the place where the priest was buried, a damp spot suddenly appeared, resembling the face of the deceased. And below, under the image, as if only to weed out any doubts about whose portrait it was, there were two letters - JV According to eyewitnesses, the “portrait” of the abbot was visible for several days.

The image that appeared more than two and a half decades later at Christ Cathedral in Oxford was preserved much longer. It was in the summer of 1923 that the profile of the abbot of this cathedral, Henry Liddell, appeared on the white wall. An image appeared next to the plaque installed after the death of the priest in 1898.

According to those who had to see Linddell up close or meet him in person, this was undoubtedly his portrait, and, moreover, very skillfully executed.

By 1926, other images of the priest appeared. This phenomenon persisted for quite a long time. Even eight years later, in 1931, the portrait of the rector of the cathedral remained clearly visible …

In the American town of Bradenton, three workers hired to carry out renovations in a Presbyterian church began cleaning one of its outer walls. And suddenly an amazing picture appeared to their eyes: separate spots began to appear on the surface of the wall, which soon merged into a human portrait. However, when the wall dried up, the image also disappeared.

In 2009, an equally amazing phenomenon happened in the Holy Dormition Svensky Monastery in the village of Suponevo, Bryansk Region. On one of the walls of this monastery, an image of Christ appeared, similar to that depicted on the famous Turin shroud.

The old residents of these places remembered that the face of the Savior was once seen during the war years by the students of the children's boarding school, which was located on the territory of the monastery. The image appeared on the limestone wall of the classroom where the chalkboard used to hang. Then the pilgrims reached the monastery. But soon the Nazis destroyed the face of Christ: the old plaster was removed to the bricks, then plastered again and covered with lime.

And what is very curious, this time the image of the Savior appeared in the same place as during the war, and during only one night.

Of course, the phenomenon of miraculous portraits is quite difficult to explain from the standpoint of science. But nevertheless, it exists and is waiting for its permission.
