But he advised me to turn to Baba Angelina, they say, she is the oldest in this village, and knows everything, besides, there are rumors that she is fortunate. I went to my grandmother …
This is what this grandmother told me.
“Ivan Sadovnik lived in the place where your house is. I remember him well, he was a good guy, hard-working. When he married, in November 1940, a girl from our village, Vera, I was 13 years old. He loved her very much. But they were not destined to be together. The war has come. In July 1941, Ivan went to the front, and in September the Germans came to our village. The Nazis took many people to Germany to work. They took Vera too. No one else saw her.
After the war, Ivan returned home. But he never married anyone else. He was never seen with women at all. But many women liked him in the village. Not only were there few men left after the war, Ivan was also handsome, hard-working and did not drink. Even I was in love with him. However, to see, he loved his Faith so much that he could not think about others.
In 1973, Ivan built a new house on the site of an old hut, the one in which you live now. But he did not manage to live in this house. A year later, Ivan had an accident and died. By inheritance, the house went to Ivan's cousin, but he never lived here. And in the 90s he sold the house to one man from Poltava, but he did not live here either. In a word, forty years have passed, and the house that Ivan built has remained uninhabited.

Baba Angelina invited me to explore the attic together. She figured there might be some valuable item hidden for the ghost.
We spent half a day exploring the attic. How many old junk was here. It was hard to believe that there could be something valuable here. We carefully checked every suspicious thing, it was an old "Raketa" wristwatch, a gift flask, some kind of statuette, a shabby icon. And finally, we stumbled upon this.
Wedding photography. This is the wedding of Ivan and Vera. It is quite possible that this is the only photograph of young people. I looked at these faces and wondered how much grief lay ahead of them.
Baba Angelina said that this photo should be taken to the cemetery, to Ivan's grave, and bury it there.
Together we went to the village cemetery and found the weedy grave of Ivan Sadovnik. Baba Angelina made a shallow hole, put the old wedding photo face down, sprinkled it with earth and muttered some kind of spell.
A year has passed since then. I put the house in perfect order, now I live here in the summer. And nobody else wanders in the attic.
