SpaceX's Starlink system of near-earth satellites can be used by the Pentagon for target designation of high-precision weapons, Alexei Leonkov, a military expert of the Arsenal of the Fatherland magazine, writes in Zvezda.

The author is confident that the American side will deploy groups of several thousand small satellites to counter Russian hypersonic weapons, ensuring the operation of the advanced combat management and surveillance system Advanced Battle Management and Surveillance (ABMS).

Leonkov accuses SpaceX of the fact that the Starlink satellites created by this company will provide the necessary bandwidth for transferring ABMS data.

Earlier in April, Dmitry Rogozin, the general director of Roscosmos, said that the state corporation would not merge with SpaceX, since the latter is a Pentagon contractor. Andrei Ionin, Corresponding Member of the Tsiolkovsky Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, commenting on this statement of the official, noted that Roskosmos sells rocket engines to the United States, which are used in rockets that launch American military spacecraft.
