1. Skulyabinsk almshouse, Embankment of the VI Army, 63
Perhaps the most mystical mansion in Vologda. Bad fame has been holding on to him for a long time. Actually, already in 1848 many Vologda residents did not understand why the then owner decided to transfer the best example of architecture of the era of classicism to the city for the construction of a charitable institution for dying impoverished old people.
Since then, the townspeople have suspected that the building brings misfortune and ruin to its owners. In the XX century, the almshouse was completely surrounded by rumors and legends. It was rumored that the epicenter of evil forces in it was a small storage room under the stairs: during the work of the almshouse, a dead room was arranged in it.
The stone mansion has stood unclaimed for several decades, casting horror and despondency on its casual visitors.
The famous Vologda attic archaeologist Gennady Belinsky loved to share scary stories about this structure with the press. So, in one of the publications, he said that he found the bones of a baby in the house, buried here, apparently, even before the revolution. In other interviews, he talked about bringing a Red Army soldier with a gun, chasing intruders out of these walls, and about an invisible dog howling in terrible ruins.

Be that as it may, even the surrounding gopniks and drug addicts try to stay away from this place. And the journalists who visited the mansion later complained that the building acts on visitors like an energy vampire, taking away strength and sending a headache.
2. Basement of the store "Leningradsky", st. Mira, 3
Who would have thought that the restored old merchant ranks had their own ghost? However, the basement of the building is notorious for merchants, and CCTV cameras record incomprehensible paranormal activity at night.
The reason for this is that the store stands on the site of fortifications from the era of Ivan Gorozny. In its basement there are the remains of a stone medieval tower, which became a portal for visits by uninvited guests from the other world.
If you remember, the restorers once exposed the foot of the tower and made it accessible to buyers for inspection. However, now you will not see it here anymore: for the peace of mind of sellers and night guards, it was decided to close it up with modern panels.

It is no secret that Ivan the Terrible, due to his suspicious nature, had a special predilection for secret passages. However, official historians deny the very possibility that they could have been built in Vologda: de, our soil is not suitable for this.
However, residents of Vologda love to talk about the Vologda treasure, and about the mysterious Liberia - the library of a Greek grandmother, hidden by Ivan IV in our area.
Many are still convinced that the modern Burmagins' street, which coincides in its borders with Verkhniy Posad, passes exactly over the ancient underground passage. Well, where there is a dungeon, there are treasures and unclean forces guarding them.
Rumor has it that during the war, some residents of these places traded in the sale of ancient church accessories: de, they could be obtained by going down to the basement of an ordinary private house, which bordered on the underground palaces of the times of Grozny.
And some are sure that the Vologda museum workers know, but they hide in which of the exhibition halls you can go down into the underground. And these passages are now welded for security reasons.
7. Demon tract
The once frightening city outskirts are now better known to Vologda residents as the Peace Park. Although in ancient times there was no park here, of course, but there was a forest where the surrounding robbers loved to trade.

8. Chapel of Beloriztsy
In the 15th century, there was the very outskirts of the city, the places were bad, where the corpses of robbers, suicides, and unknown dead people were brought, who were not supposed to have a church funeral service or rest on a lit Christian land.
The legend says that in difficult times for Vologda (historians disagree on who then attacked the future regional capital - whether the Polish invaders, or the neighboring prince) from the "wretched house", in fact - a mass grave - two stately white robes. They selflessly rushed into battle and were killed by their enemies. However, their courage inspired those who were already intending to retreat to the feat of the Vologda, and they drove away the invaders.
The Belorizians were buried in a meadow, and an annual prayer service was performed in their honor. Here, however, the official church did not particularly encourage the veneration of the Belarusian people. She did not have a final opinion on who they really were, what world they came from, and what forces they represented.
True, the people's love for the Belarusian people nevertheless turned out to be stronger than the church prohibition, and over time a chapel appeared here: first wooden, and then stone.
In the XX century, they tried to destroy it, and then they made a residential building here.
9. Petrovsky house
In the 19th century, loyal citizens of Vologda bought the former house of a Dutch merchant, where Peter I liked to stay during his visits to these regions.
Rumor has it that the powerful energy of the great king and his authentic things became the reason that some kind of mysticism happens in the house at night. If the menacing tread of the boots of the first Russian emperor could be heard, and the alarm could turn on by itself.
