According to CNN, seismologists around the world have recorded a decrease in the vibration of the Earth. This is due to quarantine in many countries - cars, trains, buses and people have less impact on the planet.

According to seismologists, a sharp decrease in activity during the coronavirus pandemic has led to the fact that the Earth vibrates significantly less. Thomas Lecock, a geologist and seismologist at the Royal Observatory in Belgium, noticed that in Brussels, during the quarantine, there is a 30-50% decrease in the level of ambient seismic noise.

This means that the data collected by seismologists is becoming more accurate and now specialists are able to detect even the slightest tremors. Even the fact that most scientific instruments are located close to city centers, where the vibration level is usually high, cannot prevent this.

“We now receive a signal with less noise and vibration, which allows us to squeeze more information out of our data,” said Andy Frassetto, an expert at the Institute for Seismological Research in Washington DC.

Researchers in Los Angeles and West London (UK) noticed a similar trend. But seismologists collecting data from remote stations far from civilization, according to the scientific community, have not noticed any changes.
