So slaves or slaves after all? The sources contain both the first and the second spellings. Hence the confusion with etymology and, in general, with the meaning of the word itself. We broke up with the Rus, and it is clear that this is not a nation at all. These are clans, united into tribes, the common ancestor of which was one. It can be assumed that this is the Genus, which in mythology figures as the Creator of all that exists. Then why did our ancestors suddenly announce that they were Rus - the grandchildren of Svarog?.. Where did the very concept of "Slav" come from then? Did it really mean simply "slave", as the Anglo-Saxon, and even some Russian scientists assert? A version appeared that this nickname fell on all subjects of a certain prince Sloven. Allegedly, his tribe lived in the Novgorod lands before Rurik, and there was such a city - Slovensk. In the beginning was the word. And the word was GOD. This is how the Torah translators understood the meaning of something written earlier by someone. And how great it is that they did not understand anything, otherwise they would forever blot out these lines from the Bible.
