Recently, a group of scientists presented a protocol in the event of a long-awaited contact with aliens.
Times have changed since 1989, when the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) group of experts, whose mission is to search for evidence of life in the universe and extraterrestrial intelligence, created a Guide or Instruction, containing a series of steps to be followed in case we encounter any- then evidence confirming the existence of life outside our planet.
First of all, it was described that a group of selected scientists would review the evidence and study it. They will then report to the authorities what they have found, and only if they deem it necessary, will they inform the public.
The main idea is to avoid any information leaks that might motivate conspiracy theorists.
These instructions are no longer needed, according to Duncan Forgan, an astrophysicist at the University of St Andrews and co-author of the above protocol.
In the Internet age, he advises people to create blogs and share their own research with others, although scientists may be unsure if they've discovered extraterrestrial life or not and inform the population immediately about what's going on.

Other scholars who do not subscribe to the new Protocol believe that information leaks should be avoided in any way that might motivate other people to lie and misinform the population.
If this happens, the person who has benefited from the leaked information must face the consequences of their actions.
