Rescuers sounded the alarm - over the past week, seven people died on the reservoirs. The tragedy with the drowned girl on the beach in Iskitim forced the UK and Acting Governor Travnikov to join. Due to the large number of drowned people, some places are already overgrown with eerie legends. The most famous of them are in the material of Gorsite.

A few days ago, a 14-year-old girl drowned in Iskitim, swam into the middle of the river and could not cope with the current. The half-brother of the deceased rushed to save her, but he himself could not swim out and was hospitalized in serious condition. After the tragedy in Iskitim, the Investigative Committee for the Novosibirsk Region organized an inspection. Two days before the death of the teenager, the rescuers of the ACC NSO installed signs prohibiting swimming on the beach along Industrialnaya Street, but local residents removed them. Some vacationers are not stopped not only by signs, but even by creepy legends. Gorsyth found two dangerous lakes, which were already overgrown with horror stories due to the number of drowned.

"Lake of Fear" - the most dangerous body of water in Novosibirsk

The builders of the South-West housing estate in Novosibirsk needed land, and in the 70s they dug a large quarry that became the "Lake of Death". According to the statistics of MASS rescuers, this is the most dangerous reservoir in Novosibirsk; over the past year, most people drowned here in the city. Lake "Yugo-Zapadnoye", or as it is called "Lake of Fear", has a maximum depth of 22 meters, it warms up poorly. Below a meter on the surface, the water becomes sharply cold, which leads to seizures and is dangerous even for professional swimmers, MASS rescuers warn.

According to local residents, in the early 2000s, six people drowned here at once. The drunken company decided to swim in a two-seater rowboat and capsized in the center of the lake, "leaving Adidas seeds and shales floating on the surface." Now a rescue post of MASS specialists is working on the lake, but people continue to swim while drunk - on July 11, 2018, rescue sailors pumped out a drunken young man who had already gone under water.

People are sure that there is something bad and terrible in the depths of the lake. This is indicated not only by legends, but also by ecologists - recently, experts have found hidden sewer pipes, from which waste of unknown content gets into the lake. Carbon dioxide and methane accumulate at the bottom of the lake 22 meters deep, which may explain the mass death of fish in winter. Scientists argue that such "stagnant" reservoirs are fraught with great danger - a sudden release of methane to the surface can poison the life in the area, up to death.

Monster of Lake Chany

Lake Chany is the largest body of water in the Novosibirsk region, more than two thousand square kilometers. On the shores of the lake there are more than a dozen tourist centers and sanatoriums, a huge reservoir is popular not only among tourists from the Far North and Yakutia, but also among fishermen. A mysterious monster settled here more than eight years ago, Russian media reported at the time.

According to fishermen's legends, a mysterious snake drags tourists and fishermen into the water. The unknown creature turned the boats over and pulled people to the bottom, local residents and relatives of the victims told Life. News. In total, from 2007 to 2010, more than 19 people died on the lake.

“I have lived near Chany for 80 years, and dozens of people disappear in this lake every year. In 2007, his 32-year-old grandson Mikhail, a young, strong special forces soldier, drowned there. Misha sailed with a friend on a boat to go fishing. The lake was calm, but suddenly the boat began to rock, it capsized. Misha's friend swam out, and my granddaughter died. Maybe this creature dragged him to the bottom? We didn’t go to the rescuers, we hired a boat ourselves and looked for the body. Found only two days later. But four tourists from the city of Belovo, Kemerovo region, have not yet been found. They drowned a few years ago. Something pushed the motor boat from below, there was a strong blow, and it overturned, dragging them to the bottom,”a resident of the village of Kvashnino Nina Doronina told Life. News.

British journalists came to the lake in search of local Nessie. However, a few years later, the media found out that the "green serpent" of Lake Chany is not a mythical monster, but banal alcohol in the blood. In August 2010, Mikhail Doronin's grandmother admitted to KP. RU that his grandson went fishing drunk, like many other dead fishermen. Local inspectors for small boats of the State Inspection Service of the Novosibirsk Region confirmed that all the dead fishermen had been found; before the tragedy they had consumed strong alcohol. The photos of the monster that got into the British newspaper turned out to be a sunken dredger that sank and remained hanging above the water, resembling a snake from Loch Ness.

Even fans of cryptozoology stopped discussing the topic of the monster on Lake Chany, recognizing the snake as a journalist duck. However, people continue to die on the lake - since the beginning of the swimming season, two people have drowned here. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Novosibirsk Region, on May 14, a boat with fishermen capsized and one of them was found dead on the shore, presumably the man died from hypothermia. A couple of days ago, on July 16, a 46-year-old fisherman drowned on the Lisiy Peninsula, near the village of Tyumenka, Kupinsky District.

Rescuers advise swimming in the Lazurnaya Bay near the village of Kvashnino, where one of the 15 places allowed for swimming in the Novosibirsk Region is located.

Nine million and nine deaths

Nine people have drowned in water bodies in the Novosibirsk region in the past week alone. According to the rescue service of the Novosibirsk region, this is three people more than last year. The regional government has allocated an additional nine million rubles to hire an additional 50 more rescue sailors on duty on the beaches. Rescuers of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation emphasized that everyone should remember the rules of self-rescue in the following situations:

1. If cramps appear in the water: hands or feet are cramped - do not get lost, try to stay on the surface of the water, swimming on your back. Rub the contracted muscle vigorously. If there are people on the shore, do not hesitate to call them for help.

2. If you accidentally sip water - stop, raise your head above the water and clear your throat. Vigorous movements of your arms and legs will help you stay upright in the water, and then swim to the shore.

3. Once in the whirlpool, draw more air into your lungs. Submerge in the water and make a strong dash to the side with the current, float to the surface.

4. Entangled in seaweed, do not make sudden movements and jerks. Lie on your back and try to swim out in the direction from which you sailed with soft, calm movements. If this does not help, you need to pull your legs up to your stomach and gently release the algae with your hands.

5. Once in a strong current, do not get lost, do not swim against the stream. Go with the flow, gradually moving towards the shore. The main thing in self-rescue is not to panic, control yourself, calmly take all the necessary measures to get out of this situation.

Recall that young people often drown when they dive in a place with an unknown bottom or swim across a river or lake for a bet. Adult men often drown due to seizures and intoxicated. Children can die if they suddenly enter cool water after extreme heat and receive shock and then swallow water. According to the website Miloserdie.ru, the child's silence should be alarming - a meaningless look or even closed eyes, a head that appears above the water, or disappears; hands up, mouth near the surface of the water, head thrown back are signs that a person is drowning. Such a person must be shouted out, asked - a drowning person near the shore does not even have time to take a breath, let alone answer a question. The noise and screams of children playing by the water do not pose any danger, but the silence is already a cause for concern.
