Among all human phenomena, one of the most mysterious and frightening is the phenomenon of pyrokinesis. It has been known since time immemorial and still does not have an accurate and reliable explanation.
What is pyrokinesis?
The name pyrokinesis means the phenomenon of spontaneous combustion of a person, which occurs suddenly and for no apparent reason. At the same time, a person can burn to the ground in a matter of seconds, without even having time to call for help. But along with this there is another type of spontaneous combustion, when the victim does not burn to the end, but only charred. There is also a kind of this phenomenon, when fire is caused as a result of the mental effort of a person endowed with this ability, or during an outbreak of a poltergeist. But most often cases of pyrokinesis are associated precisely with involuntary spontaneous combustion.
As a result of studies of officially confirmed cases of spontaneous combustion, it was found that the temperature of the fire at the same time reached several thousand degrees Celsius. However, of particular interest is the fact that often no traces of fire remained on the clothes of the victims, or pieces of furniture that were in direct contact with the body of the deceased. In addition, all the victims of this phenomenon were found in poses that indicated that they were not trying to somehow protect themselves from the fire that engulfed them.
The most famous cases of pyrokinesis
In the entire history of mankind, cases of spontaneous combustion did not occur so often, but there is still documented evidence of such incidents.

In the middle of the last century, a hotel owner was arrested in Mexico, whose wife was burned to death in front of a large number of witnesses. It happened in the evening, when the guests were having dinner on the first floor of the building, and the hostess was resting sitting in an armchair. Her husband was nearby, roasting a goose on a spit. At one point, the woman screamed terribly and everyone saw that she was engulfed in flames. A few seconds later, only ash remained from her, while the chair and clothes of the burned ones remained intact.
There is also documented evidence of a case of group spontaneous combustion in the United States in the 60s of the last century, near Pickville, located in Kentucky. There, in a car standing on the side of the road, 5 badly burned bodies of people were found. Moreover, they all sat inside in their usual positions, and there were no signs of a struggle or other signs that they were killed.
There have been cases of pyrokinesis in Russia. The most famous is the incident that happened in 1990 in a place called "Devil's Lair", located in the well-known anomalous zone Medveditskaya ridge, on the border of the Vologda and Saratov regions. Two shepherds gathered to take a short break, and one of them sat down on the ground, and the other went away for a short while to drive the animals. When he returned, he found a charred body instead of a partner. At the same time, he was absent for only a few minutes and did not hear any suspicious sounds. The victim's clothing remained intact as in other cases.
Currently, there is a lot of evidence of such incidents, accumulated over the centuries. In this case, cases that have occurred recently are of particular interest, since they allow a more detailed study of the phenomenon.
Supposed causes of pyrokinesis
Currently, there are several hypotheses explaining this phenomenon, and they all border on fantasy. It is known that for the burning of a human body, a temperature exceeding 1000 degrees is required, which affects the body for several hours. However, during spontaneous combustion, a person turns into ash in seconds. Therefore, some researchers are inclined to believe that the reason may lie in a change in the flow of time. According to this version, combustion is a chemical oxidation process. In the human body, oxidation processes also proceed, but only at a much slower rate. At some point, for an unknown reason, the flow of time for a person is sharply accelerated and oxidation occurs very quickly, as a result, it ignites and burns. Researchers believe that a person may have a mechanism thatthanks to which at some point it becomes possible to change the course of time. Most often, it turns on involuntarily under the influence of stress, then spontaneous combustion occurs.
There is another version explaining the cause of pyrokinesis. According to her, a thermonuclear fusion reaction takes place in every living cell, as a result of which energy is released. Sometimes a malfunction occurs, leading to an uncontrolled release of energy and spontaneous combustion.
Some researchers are also inclined to believe that the cause of spontaneous combustion of people is ball lightning that suddenly appears next to a person. There is also a version according to which radiation unknown to science can cause ignition.
However, along with numerous versions, the secret of pyrokinesis has not yet been fully understood. Therefore, today, researchers can only speculate and put forward hypotheses based on indirect data obtained from interviewing witnesses and studying the remaining traces of incidents.
