Planet Earth - that's how we humans called it. The Earth is not just a planet, it is, first of all, our common home, our common cradle. Man is born on earth, lives and dies. It was so in antiquity, and so it is today. At the very dawn of human civilization, it seemed to us that our land is the safest place that we are not able to break or harm it. However, over thousands of years, Homo sapiens have changed a lot. Once, shamans and druids advocated unity with nature, for its maximum preservation, today the views of people regarding our planet have changed greatly. The Earth is not only our common home, it is also a launching pad for humanity. This is a primary reserve of resources for further development. Earth is a donor planet.
Several thousand years ago, man subjugated fire and suddenly realized that he could control the elements. This realization was the beginning of what is today called the ideology of power and subordination. Having subdued fire, man learned to smelt metal tools and cook tasty and satisfying food on fire. This further strengthened the belief of primitive people that it was man who should be the king of the earth. This also gave rise to the thirst for knowledge. Knowledge opened up new opportunities, and new opportunities gave more power over their fellow tribesmen and over nature.
Time passed, knowledge became more and more, but the parity between man and nature was preserved. This was the case before the invention of firearms. As soon as a person put an end to physical domination, he invented a method of perfect murder - he began to focus on the development of the earth's interior. Many minerals seemed useless and unnecessary to people. However, the growing needs of humanity at a rapid rate - forced us to benefit from everything. We dug up coal mines, built underground mines. And everything was always enough for us, and then everything changed a lot.
Progress was so rapid that it outstripped the amount of resources being mined. Then the entire mining process was rationalized, devices appeared that allowed not only to increase the extraction of minerals, but also made the extraction cleaner. The discovery of an internal combustion engine made it possible to use oil for its intended purpose. It turned out to be such an important discovery that oil production is the backbone of the world economy to this day. The boom of road transport for ordinary people, military development, the development of electricity, the conquest of hard-to-reach places - all this improved people's lives and once again helped to conquer nature and confirm their dominance.
But this could not last forever. Old coal mines began to deplete, mines and deposits were closed, but it was already impossible to live without these resources - new deposits had to be developed. In the last century, humanity has taken a new height - we have mastered atomic energy and conquered low Earth orbit. Many sources of alternative energy have been discovered, but even today no one is taking them seriously. The world is deeply mired in the need for non-stop oil and gas production.
From the middle of the twentieth century, a society of unlimited consumption began to form, and it exists to this day. But at that time, all the products manufactured at the enterprises ultimately found their buyer. This is not the case these days. The automotive industry cannot stop and produces as many cars as it can never buy. There are even whole parking lots of brand new, but useless cars. The manufacturing of millions of telephones, computers and peripherals faced the same problem. The supply is hundreds of thousands of times greater than the demand. The worst thing is that everything in our world is gradually striving towards this milestone. Meanwhile, for the production of any product we spend a lot of non-renewable natural resources, we waste them, knowing full well that they are not endless. Slow,but oil deposits are surely being depleted, and the world's gas reserves are also coming to an end.
The area covered by forests is inexorably decreasing. And the leaders of the leading states are well aware of this. However, the measures for planting new trees are not enough. The rate of deforestation is so high that by 2050 there will be a crisis in the timber industry. The remains of the forests will be carefully guarded. All this together leads to catastrophic environmental pollution.
What a person does is not always a good thing. Today, in 2017, the environment is in great decline, and the company for the ideals of a consumer society is only getting stronger. Experts from different countries make very disappointing forecasts. The main oil and gas fields will be depleted very soon, and there is no really functional alternative to them. Whatever man does today, he really destroys our planet. Destroys his own home. The lack of rationalization leads to the effect of increasing regression.

Minerals that would fuel progress can have the opposite effect. In a civilization that transforms minerals for the sake of the process itself, and not for a specific purpose, it inevitably falls into a stage of regression. The planet gives all its juices to support the interests of self-centered humanity.
We humans are killing our planet out of our own ignorance and selfishness. And each of us understands that one day - life on Earth will become almost impossible. On an exhausted planet, there will be nothing to breathe, the air will be oversaturated with harmful elements, the bowels will be empty, and we will not even be able to fly to another planet. Our civilization will be doomed to perish along with our planet. We can still change everything, now - there is still time.
