The mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is the mystery of suddenly cut short lives. Today, the Bermuda Triangle is often called the most dangerous anomalous zone on Earth - people, ships and aircraft disappear without a trace. The Bermuda Triangle is sometimes also called the Gateway to another dimension, because that would be perhaps the easiest way to explain some of the disappearances.

The Bermuda Triangle or Devil's Triangle is located in the northwestern part of the Atlantic Ocean.

Conventionally symbolic peaks of the Bermuda Triangle are the southern promontory of Florida (Miami), Bermuda and Puerto Rico. In this case, the shape of the triangle is also very arbitrary, tragic disappearances also occur outside of it in the Gulf of Mexico and in the northern part of the Caribbean Sea. Therefore, sometimes they try to push the boundaries of the triangle. It is clear that the secret of the anomalous zone called the Bermuda Triangle is not a strict geometric figure, but only a symbolic designation of the place of its localization.

The mysteries of the sudden disappearance in the Bermuda Triangle began to excite the public from the middle of the last century. In 1950, Associated Press correspondent Jones called the area "the devil's sea." In 1964, thanks to the article "The Deadly Bermuda Triangle" by Vincent Gladdis, the dangerous anomalous zone in the Atlantic Ocean was named the Bermuda Triangle.

Modern history already has about a hundred mysterious disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. This is an area with difficult weather conditions and very busy water and air traffic.

Therefore, when ships suddenly disappear from the radar under good weather conditions, it is hard not to notice.

In 1945, the disappearance of a military squadron attracted increased attention to this anomalous zone. Five Avenger-class torpedo bombers with an experienced crew suddenly and without a trace disappeared during a normal flight in clear weather and over calm seas.

In radio communications, the pilots spoke about the failure of navigation equipment, complete disorientation and … panic “We do not know where the west is. Nothing works … Strange … We cannot determine the direction. Even the ocean looks different from usual!.. . After the navigation equipment completely failed, the pilots tried to find land in the west for an hour and a half, then another hour in the east, but they did not find it. It's like an entire American state has disappeared. And when the crew saw the ground, they did not recognize it and did not dare to land.

The last words of the pilots still cause a lot of controversy: “We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We do not know where we are, the water is green, not white. " ("We are entering white water, nothing seems right. We don't know where we are, the water is green, no white".)

The search for five aircraft or their wreckage turned out to be in vain, moreover, during the search, another of the aircraft disappeared - the seaplane "Martin Mariner"

Skeptics later put forward theories that the pilots were not experienced enough, that the pilots had lost their bearings, that the aircraft of this type were unreliable and could easily explode due to fuel leaks. But … if it was one plane, then, of course, anything is possible. But it is difficult to assume that five planes ignited spontaneously at the same instant and therefore none of the pilots reported the crash.

In 1963, the 130 m long cargo ship Marine Sulfur Queen disappeared without a trace. The vessel disappeared without distress signals and its remains were not found. The exact location of the vessel at the time of the disappearance is unknown, but its course gave grounds to speak of the disappearance of the Marine Sulfur Queen in the Bermuda Triangle.

The disasters that have taken place and are happening in the Bermuda Triangle area have become, on the one hand, an object of close public scrutiny, and on the other hand, an opportunity for speculation and cheap sensations. Many theories have been created that should explain the unexpected disorientation of people and equipment failure in the area.

The most famous theories that try to explain the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle scientifically are:

- the cause of sudden catastrophes in the Bermuda triangle are giant wandering waves 30m high, - the ocean is capable of generating infrasonic waves, provoking panic among the crew, as a result of which people are thrown overboard, - giant gas bubbles filled with methane are formed in the ocean. When a ship or plane enters such a bubble, they inevitably sink to the bottom due to the very low density of water or air inside such a bubble, - powerful warm current of the Gulf Stream, which causes abrupt changes in the weather in the Bermuda Triangle

- features of the bottom relief of the Bermuda Triangle under water, which does not allow finding the remains of sunken ships and aircraft, - space curvature and magnetic fog.
