In Germany, on the territory of the federal state of Thuringia, scientists have discovered a tree fungus that is very dangerous for humans. According to experts, it is capable of causing diseases of the respiratory system, which are difficult to tolerate not only by humans, but also by animals. We are talking about the type of Cryptostroma corticale, reports the Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk TV and radio company.
Horst Sprossmann, an employee of the Thuringian Forest Institute, noted that infection with the spores of the fungus leads to a reflex cough, in addition, after a few hours, a person's body temperature rises. Spores of Cryptostroma corticale are spread by wind and can enter the lungs through inhalation. Complaints in patients appear approximately eight hours after contact with the pathogen.
For the first time, a dangerous mushroom was discovered in Germany in 2005 in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. He was later seen in North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as in Hesse. Cryptostroma corticale sloughs off the bark of the plant, making the wood black. In connection with the spread of the fungus, scientists are urging local residents to take precautions when in contact with trees on which the dangerous fungus grows.
