The lighthouse on Westman Island (Iceland) was built back in 1939. Previously, one or two workers lived on this island along with the lighthouse, who were engaged in the maintenance of the lighthouse and alternately replaced each other. Today the lighthouse is fully automatic. Sometimes workers come here to check the state of the lighthouse, to correct possible problems.

Helicopter pilot Gisli Gislason posted a stunning video from the helicopter as he and his crew approached the island. The lighthouse is located on the highest of the three nearby rocks, it is called Háidrangur. From a certain angle it seems that the rock is sharp, but in fact it is quite flat and wide. The helicopter is the only way to get to the rock.

A team of workers spent the night on the island and were delighted with the incredible view from the island. The guys checked the equipment and the condition of the lighthouse, corrected the electricity and the operation of the solar panels installed on the lighthouse. One of the main conditions necessary for a flight to the island is good, cloudless weather. As you know, this is a bit of a rare occurrence for Iceland! The weather was favorable, so the flight went smoothly!

But what frames can we enjoy now! An incredible place!

The lighthouse is now operating in automatic mode.
