For twenty-year-old surveyor Christopher Tompkins from Ellerslie, Georgia, January 25, 2002, began as usual: he woke up early in the morning, had a snack, said goodbye to his mother, and went to work. On that day, the guy and four of his partners had to mark a piece of land in a forest belt near Highway 85. They walked to the designated place, moving in a chain, where the distance between each other was no more than 15 meters.
Tompkins was the last to move and was constantly in touch with colleagues, as well as in their field of vision. At some point, Christopher said a few words to his partner, he turned around, but did not see anyone, given that there was only a field around, that is, he could not run away abruptly.
Barbed Wire Boot - All Found From Christopher
His colleagues went in search and soon found the missing guy's boot, which was hanging from a barbed wire. Near this place were Tompkins' tools, a rag of blue trousers and 12 cents of change. Colleagues fell into a stupor and only therefore reported the incident to the boss only a few hours later, and his mother even later. Law enforcement immediately started searching, but after two days they did not find anything. The search with a huge group of volunteers did not help either.
Only a month later, a second shoe was randomly found, which was on a private site almost a kilometer from the place where Christopher disappeared. The owner of the land could not explain how the find appeared in this place.

Everything indicated that Tompkins seemed to be frightened of something, rushed to run, lost his shoe when he climbed over the wire and was in such a hurry that he did not even stop when he lost his shoes. Naturally, the question arose: what could have scared the topographer so much?
There is a version that the entire team of specialists participated in some kind of illegal game, in this regard, they did not immediately inform the boss about the disappearance of the guy. In a few hours they could hide the corpse by burying it in the forest. However, there is no confirmation of this version.
Another assumption is that Tompkins deliberately escaped in order to start a new life as a completely different person. This version was prompted by the words of the chief of surveyors, who said that Christopher had behaved very strangely in recent days, but the guy's mother denied everything.
Well, the most mystical version says that something paranormal happened in that very place, from the notorious opening of the passage between the worlds, to the attack of a previously unknown monster or ghost. In any case, the mystery of the sudden disappearance of the hero of this article has not yet been solved, just as he himself has not been found: dead or alive.
