A 45-year-old resident of the Indian city of Mumbai woke up minutes before his own autopsy after the doctor mistakenly stated his death, writes The Daily Mail.

The man, whose name the publication does not name, was found unconscious on the bus. The police took him to the hospital, where doctors did not find his pulse and concluded that he had died.

Chief physician Rohan Rohekar sent the body to the morgue contrary to hospital rules, which require leaving the patient for two hours at room temperature to hedge against medical error.

According to the employees, when they were ready to proceed with the autopsy, they saw that the belly of the alleged deceased began to rise and fall. The Daily Mail does not report what caused the Indian's sudden “awakening”.

Upon learning of his mistake, Dr. Rohekar destroyed the conclusion of the death of the patient, which he was later convicted of.

The hospital staff did not immediately let the police officers who arrived at the scene. Later, the inspector said that this was a serious case of medical negligence and he would await a report on the results of the investigation from the head doctor of the hospital.

The head of the hospital, Dr. Suleman Merchant, said that it is normal for the doctor to not find the patient's pulse in case of injury or shock. According to him, the doctor Rohekar started working recently and was not very familiar with all the processes. The manager noted that the culprit was reprimanded.

The revived man is now being treated for ear infections and malnutrition.
